Jonatan Söderström
Jonatan Söderström is a Swedish video game developer best known for his work with Dennis Wedin on Hotline Miami series.
Games
Throughout his career, Söderström has developed many small indie games most of which were made using GameMaker Studio software. Some of the most notable of his early works include Clean Asia! and Mondo Medicals. Both games are freeware and saw recognition in the indie game community as well as with game journalists for their unique art style and gameplay elements. The breakthrough project for Söderström was 2012 top-down shooter Hotline Miami. The game was praised by game journalists and had strong sales. A sequel, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number was released in 2015.
Style
In his works, Söderström prefers not to incorporate too much gameplay mechanics making them consistent and unified. Most of his games are fairly short. The game designer stated that he tries to get as much as he can from a single idea within a single game.
