ALSO, I STILL WISH FOR PEOPLE TO E-MAIL ME WITH RECOMMENDED PLAYERS, TACTICS
AND THE SUCH, BUT IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUERIES PLEASE VISIT THE NEOSEEKER
CM 00/01 FORUM AT

**NOTICE**
I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF PEOPLE INSULTING ME BECAUSE I HAVEN'T GOT ONE OF THE
PLAYERS THAT THEY LIKE ON MY LIST. IF I GET ANYMORE INSULTING E-MAILS WITH
REGARD TO THIS FAQ THEN I AM GOING TO REPORT IT TO WHOEVER HOSTS YOUR E-MAIL

AND EVEN INTERNET ACCESS FROM THAT PARTICULAR ISP.

****IMPORTANT NOTE****
WHEN SENDING IN PLAYER RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE GIVE ME THE CLUB HE PLAYS FOR
AND HIS POSTION, WITH A LOT OF PLAYERS THEY ARE TWO WITH THE SAME NAME AND
I DON'T REALLY WANT TO START THE GAME UP AND SEE WHO IS GOOD AND WHO IS

POTENTIAL RATINGS. THANK YOU.

I am not going to go over all of the basics like what the stats mean, or how
to start a game, or what the different buttons do while you are playing a
match. You can read the instruction book for that. Or read Mark Vaughn's
guide from www.sigames.com/eng or www.thedugout.net as that tells you
everything like that you need to know. A lot of the other guides for the CM
series are just copies of that, and aren't as good. Whereas I try to collect
a lot of the information from different message boards at different websites,
as well as using my own experience, to give all the best players, staff,
tactics etc. Other guides may be bigger but they are just the instruction
manual typed out.
==============================================================================
Version 1.0 I have only played the demo from www.sigames.net as the game
doesn't come out til Friday but I thought I'd get started now to allow for a
FAQ that has information as I have it, best to get one out early.

Version 2.0 Added more info about the new features of the game. Added a few
recommended players.

Version 2.1 Added more players and a few tactics.

Version 2.2 Added a lot mor players. Changed the recommended players section
around so that higher league and lower league players are seperate.

Version 2.3 Added a couple of players. Added a new tactic and updated the info
about some of the players. Added a cheat.

Version 2.4 Added players

Version 2.5 Added players. Added a problems section.

Version 2.6 Added players. Added a few more problems.

Version 2.7 Added more players.

Version 2.8 Yet more players and a couple of more sites to the list.

Version 2.9 Added a lot more players and a new tactic at long last, updated
the site list and added a new acknowledgment.

Version 3.0 Added more players and made a few corrections.

Version 3.1 Added players and altered a few comments. Changed my e-mail address

Version 3.2 Added more defensive players

Version 3.3 Added more players and more tactics

1. Introduction
==============================================================================
This will be a FAQ about the entire game, not just the English League like
the last one for CM 99/00. I also want this to be an FAQ, so please e-mail
me your questions about the game and I will answer everyone that I can, if I
don't know it I will find out for you. If you want to recommend a tactic,
save it and send me the tactic as an attachment, I can then check it out
and draw the tactic on here myself.

The main new feature about this game is the built in editor, you no longer
need to download one from the Internet (that reminds me I never thanked
Tri Wasano in my last FAQ for his brilliant CM 99/00 editor, thanks. Better
late than never). So I want to start off by asking no one to use this editor
to cheat. It is an idiot's way out and it should only be used to make the game
more realistic. Only make a player better if he is really crap in the game
when he is good in real life. Only transfer players when they have been
transferred in real life. This is what it is for. I hate it when people say
they took a team from the conference all the way to European glory in about
6 seasons. But you know that they done it with an editor. I always changed
the name of my club, usually to something stupid like, Jericholics or
Slayers Forest or The Skywalkers, but that just shows how sad I am.

My favourite new feature is the media interaction. Now when something
important is happening at your club they ask for your opinion on it.
This can affect the moral of certain players, or the way you are viewed by
other managers. For example I was asked whether or not I thought Alan Smith
(Leeds) was a future England star. By saying that I believed he was let him
know that I held him in high regard. They also ask about whether someone is
available for transfer and the such, very cool thing.

You can also now give a player a warning before you actually fine him, which
is a good thing as it prevents them from getting too pissed off with you when
they are fined, if they are warned beforehand they should have a good idea
that something is coming.

The most important new feature (after the editor) is probably the FA request
feature. You can now complain to the FA about the Referee in your last
match :) (I love being able to complain about the ref). And you can also ask
for your next match to be postponed, this is handy if you have too many
injuries or you don't have a Goalkeeper to play, or if three or more players
are on International duty then the FA may postpone your game and re-arrange
it at a later date. I could have done with that in the last game, especially
when the Olympic tournament was on as there was no age limit in it (it's now
under 23's only, thank god).

There are also coach and physio reports available for players in your own
squad. This is very useful when you aren't sure if someone is up to the
standard you wish, or if you are not too sure of their fitness.

The final big feature is the live league table during matches. You can watch
it while playing a league match and see what the positions are if all the
current scores stay the same, it changes whenever a goal is scored and is
very useful if you are trying to avoid promotion as you don't have to try
and work it out for yourself.

There are new leagues as well, here is a full list of all the nations who's
leagues you are able to be able to participate in;

Argentina
Australia (new)
Belgium
Brazil
Croatia (new)
Denmark
England
Finland (new)
France
Germany
Greece (new)
Holland
Ireland (new)
Italy
Japan
United States
Northern Ireland (new)
Norway
Poland (new)
Portugal
Russia (new)
Scotland
Spain
Sweden
Turkey (new)
Wales (new)

The game also comes in a DVD style box, which is a lot less space consuming
than the old boxes, they still don't stand up properly though. I have a big
collection of DVD's all lying on their sides while all my videos are still
standing strong, and DVD is supposed to be the way forward. Anyway I digress.
==============================================================================
2. Cheats and Tips
==============================================================================
International Management
On the team selection screen when starting a game you can select to manage
an international team by going to the teams Squad screen and selecting to
manage them as with any other team. You can get to an international teams
Squad screen by clicking on a player's nationality within a player profile.
(thanks to Mark Vaughn's CM guide).

There is supposedly a way to get a Referee the sack, I haven't tried it yet
but here it is. After a match go to the FA request section and ask for the
next match to be postponed. Don't go to your news just stay on the FA request
screen and complain about the referee 5 times in a row without checking your
news. After the 5th time check your news and the referee should have been
sacked. This never works for me but some people have verified it so it stays.
==============================================================================
3. Recommended Players
==============================================================================
Higher league means the top division only, obviously the players will still be
good at a lower level but they will probably get restless. Lower league is the
equivalent of the first division and below. Some players might not be good
enough for the first division, so you would probably be better off going for
the lesser-known higher league players. Sometimes certain players only appear
when you have certain leagues running. Youth players are players who have got
tremendous potential and it would be a good idea if you could pick them up early
as then you won't have to pay big money for them when they are world class.

WHEN PEOPLE SEND IN PLAYERS PLEASE PUT THEIR POSITIONS AND CLUBS, IF A PLAYER
IS SENT TO ME WITHOUT HIS POSITION AND CLUB LISTED THEN HE WILL BE IGNORED.

I have removed the values because they vary too much.

A lot of the players stats are for the version 3.89 of CM 00/01, they might be
at different clubs if you are using a different version or have used an update.

4. Tactics and Formations
==============================================================================
Tactic 1

GK
DC DC DC
DMC
MR MC MC ML
FC FC

This is a really good tactic with a lower division team, especially if you
play direct and attacking, as you get the midfield packed. It's also a good
idea to make the DMC tackle hard as it then can bully the opposition's
midfielders out of the game.

Tactic 2

GK
DR DC DC DL
MC MC MC
FC FC FC

To make this tactic really work make the two wide attackers run in towards
the centre attacker. I don't know why it works it just does, you get a lot of
the ball and the attacks always seem quite persistent

Tactic 3

GK
DC DC DC
DMC
MC MC MC
AMC
FC FC

This works really well for me at Reading and Walsall. Make sure that the
central MC is quite attacking and that your defensive midfielder is a
Defender/Midfielder. I use Adrian Viveash at Reading and it works a treat.

Tactic 4

GK
DR DC DC DL
DMC
MC MC MC
FC FC

This is a good tactic for a big club. Use short passing and always stay on
Pressing. If you are ahead, especially by two goals. Switch to Counter
Attacking as you are then not that likely to get caught out.

Tactic 5 (credit: Hayden Shaw)

This was used at Barcelona with Cocu in central defence running forward
(dotted line) half way between midfield and defence.

Solid attacking formation, need fantastic defenders.

With this formation play, Pressing, Normal Tackling and Mixed Passing. Have
the two widest AM's running diagonally forward and wide, have the two DM's

==============================================================================
5. Problems
==============================================================================
These are just a few of the things that are wrong with the game. I am not
complaining it just gets aggravating.

Sometimes an entire half can go by without anything happening and the
possession bar doesn't even change.

Even if you have the right spec of a PC to run 24 leagues they still won't run
at a decent speed. Trust me I know. Never run anymore than 6 leagues at a
time, even on a top end PC.

Sometimes a keeper can come on for another keeper who had been sent off, they
will only play for 2 minutes and won't so anything. Yet they will get a 9
rating and Man Of The Match.

Quinton Fortune is crap. (More a data error than a problem).

This is not a totally technical problem, and it doesn't bother me, but in my
league as Reading every time I play away in the League Cup against Premiership
opposition I always win. But if I get a Second or even Third division side in
the cup I seem to struggle.

You really need to download the patch from SIGames.com to get rid of the bugs.
The latest one is version 3.89 and it also rids saved games of bugs as well.
