1. Bypassing the cut-off man
As we made the computer baserunners extremely aggressive, we put in a feature
that allows you to bypass the cut-off man. When throwing the ball in from the
outfield, press button #2 (instead of button #1) to avoid the cut-off man.
2. Rounding the bases
When running the bases, if you want to round a base and continue on to the
next base without pausing, press the directional button of the next base
before reaching the base you're running toward.
3. I'm having trouble batting...
If you're having trouble batting, practice with the small batter view before
before taking on the larger batter view.
4. Playing MLBPA teams against Legends teams
To play MLBPA teams vs. Legends teams in exhibition play, you need to create a
"new league" with a combination of both Legend and MLBPA teams and have it
loaded as the current league.
5. Setting the music volume
The music volume slider on the "Sound and Music Setup" screen controls the
music during the menu screens and the music volume slider on the "Options"
screen controls the volume of the background music option during gameplay.
6. Setting the skill level sliders
A setting of "easy" for a team means the team will have an easy time playing,
a setting of "hard" for a team means the team will have a difficult time
playing. For example, if a user wants an advantage over an opponent, he should
set his team to easy and the opponent eam to hard. This works the same when
playing against the computer: to make it easy or you to play against the
computer, set your team's difficulty slider to easy and set the computer
team's difficulty level to hard.
7. Preventing inside-the-park homeruns
Use your custom outfield setting in the old-time ballparks to prevent
inside-the-park homeruns.
8. Importing manager profiles
If you want to import a team including the "manager profile" settings, do it
by using the "Import Team" function under "Edit League" instead of "Import
Team" on the "Edit Team" screen.
9. Creating new players
If you want to create new players that don't use the MLBPA or Legends
digitized pictures and names, import in empty.pit (an empty pitcher file) or
empty.btr (an empty batter file) instead of editing the existing players.
10. Slow gameplay
If you experience slow game play when you have background music enabled, you
should re-install the game using the "normal" install option. The "minimal"
install option saves hard disk space by reading most data off the CDROM during
game play and on some computer systems this can result in slow game play.
Alternatively, you can go to the game options screen and turn off background
music. If your game still plays too slowly, don't forget to check the "Game
Speed" slider on the options screen to make sure it isn't turned down.
