When you are finished with the Tutorial, you will return to Eden. Explore the town and meet the locals. Margo and Zig will point out a strange meteor shower. If you look up in the sky, you can watch as the meteors crash into the planets shield. While looking upward take a peek at the sun. The suns intensity increases when you look directly into it (realistic huh?). Down the path that the Dung Kart travels, you will be able to test your skills with the slingshot. The idea here is to break the Vases that are on top of that box. There are distance lines drawn on the ground, but distance doesn’t matter. Just break 3 of the vases and a Circle of Protection will drop to the ground. Save this item for later. After checking out the general area, and watching the Creeper Cow take a nap on the main road, head for the tavern.
The Tavern
You will meet more people in here. Most of these people will say 3 – 4 different things. Listed to everything that everyone has to say to get up-to-date on the local gossip. However, we didn’t come here for gossip. The guy you will want to speak to is Angus. He will be in the basement blowing holes in the mountain (smart eh?). When you speak to him, he will give you some Thermal Detonators.
While talking with Angus, a Creeper Caretaker will rush in and tell you that strange insects (known as Vymish) are attacking the Creepers. They will lead you outside where the bugs are attacking. You will see Garret fall into a hole in the roof. That is where you need to go. Jump across to the balcony onto the other building and pull yourself up. Climb across the clothesline to the building on the other side of the road. Once you are there, jump and grab the edge of the roof. Pull yourself up, and drop down into the hole.
Save the Creeper Cows
Once you are down the hole, you can speak to Garret, but then check the area for items. While looking at Garret, towards your right will be a green rock, and some of that dung Angus told you about. Place a detonator there, and you will blow the path open. Check the area, and then exit by using the crank on the door. You will see more Creeper Cows, and 2 of the locals taking care of them. More Vymish will attack at this point. Kill them and then speak to the creeper Caretakers who are hiding in the small shed. Now open the near by door by turning the crank. You will find more insects, and the pregnant Cow. Kill all of these bugs, and the locals will enter the room. Shortly after, the floor will break open, and you will fall to the level below. In this room you will fight the Vymish Mamma.
Vymish Mamma
The Vymish Mamma is very easy to deal with if you avoid her line of sight. See the green lights shooting out from her face? That is her line of sight. Anything inside the green rays will be visible to her. Notice the blocks of hay strategically placed around the room? You can hide from the Mammas sight by standing behind these blocks. If you look just below the Vymish Mamma, you will notice the piles of green rock. The idea here is to place a detonator on these green rocks, which will cause a larger explosion. There are 4 piles of green rocks around the Mamma. Also you will find 3 puddles of acid. Above each puddle is a bar you can use to cross. If you broke 3 Vases to test your skill with the Slingshot, then you should have got the Circle of Protection. This item will help you a lot in this area. Use it to easily deal with the insects that pop out of the explosions.
Now, wait until the mamma is not looking towards you and then run to a pile of the green rocks. Place a detonator on the ground, and run for cover. When the detonator explodes, it will take 1/4th of the Mammas health away, and blow off one of her legs. A swarm of insects will come from the explosion and attack you. Kill them while staying behind cover. When the Mamma is not looking in your direction, climb across the bars above the acid, and detonate another pile of green rocks. After you blow up all 4 piles, the Mamma will die.
Congratulations, I no longer consider you “Green”.
Eden Market
After you finish off “Big Mamma”, you will be taken to the Market. Visit Otto’s Shop to find out he is not home. Speak to the storyteller for a little history, and the location of Otto. Speak with Alexis at the Market for a full healing potion. Down the road Alexis, you will see 2 green Meteors on the cliff above. These Meteors will continually spawn those Vymish you have been fighting. To deal with these Meteors, use your sling. Do not use the Green sling use the normal one. Throw stones until you knock the Meteors down.
Just past the Meteors, you will see a pipe with a rope leading to a counter weight. You can climb onto the counter weight from the pipe or the platform. The extra weight that you add will cause the pipe to raise, and the counter weight to lower. Quickly get on top of the counter weight and jump for the near by roof. You should have grabbed the edge. Pull yourself up, and dust yourself off. On this roof you will find a shield (remember them from the training?). You will also find a towns-person. He will make a few small Star Wars remarks (Consider this an Easter Egg? Perhaps… Or not. Either way, it is neat to find “Out of place things” such as this.
A little further down the road you will find an area that has 4 Meteors, and 2 Shglieks. The Shglieks will mutate into monsters and attack you. In this room, you will want to find a way onto the roof of the small building. From this roof, you can jump to the ledge on the other side. On the ledge, you will find, and I quote, “A girls best friend”. Keep following the path and you will load into Town Center.
Town Center
When you enter the Town Center, you will have another Meteor spawning more Vymish. Use your sling to knock it down.
You need to speak to Otto. He will be at the entrance area for this map. He is testing out his new crossbow, with a little Shgliek target practice. After you speak with Otto, explore the area. You will hallucinate at the fountain. Pay close attention to how many people are in the area. More will be here in a minute, and you will need to speak with them. There are 2 paths off to the right side of this map. Check them both out, and then check out the church. There are a few hidden power ups to be found. When you are finished looking around, return to the fountain. You will see 2 newer people standing around. Walk over and speak to them. When the dialogue is over, you will be taken to the Underground.
Underground
When you enter the Underground, hold back for a few seconds. The place will begin to crumble, and you could get smashed. Once the walls have finished breaking apart, walk the path until the cut scene starts.
Fighting the Grawlix
Grawlixes can be tough customers. In an area tightly confined, such as this area, they are at their toughest. Luckily for you, there is a pillar in this room for you to use towards your advantage. Check the Screenshot for the exact location. Just keep the Grawlix on the opposite side of the pillar from yourself. Step out to fire at him, and then duck back behind the pillar. Four or Five direct hits should take him down. Try to fire at him when he is using his breath attack. If he is not actively involved in an attack, then he will block your shots by covering his head and chest with his arms. If your using Otto’s Crossbow, then charge it up, and wait until the Grawlix begins an attack before you fire. If you run out of ammo, then you will need to run out into the open and grab some off the floor. Because the Grawlix likes to block your shots, use that as suppression fire. The Grawlix will not charge you if he is blocking your shots.
After you kill the Grawlix, climb the rope that is in that room. You will have a few Lymphorn plants to deal with, but they will be easy enough if you block their shots with your shield and attack with your sword. When you come to a room that has 2 ropes, be swift. Two Grawlix will descend into this room at any second. If you are up on the elevated platforms, then you can just take pop-shots at them. However, if you are on the floor level, these guys are going to walk all over you. In the back of this room there is a large rock that blocks the path. Walking up to it (press USE key if walking doesn’t work) will allow you to pry the boulder loose. Ahead you will pass through a series of interlinked rooms. It will be easy enough to navigate; the only problems are the 6 or 7 Grawlix that you must pass as well. The handgun will work well on them if you are out of ammo for the crossbow. Eventually you will come to a deep hole in the ground. Jumping into this hole will load you into the sewers.
Sewers
When you reach the sewers, you will walk to the end of the hall. Here you will find a Lymphorn Plant. Turn directly around, facing the way you came from, and you will see that a Grawlix has followed you down. Take care of him before messing with the plant. After you have dealt with the Grawlix and the Lymphorn, you will find the first obstacle for this area. You will need to push the Button on the wall to activate the bridge above. Next, you will need to jump to the rotating platforms. Jump off of the platforms to the topside of the bridge. Cross the bridge to the other side.
Once you have crossed the bridge, you will need to activate the lever in the near by room. This will make the pinwheel begin to rotate. You need to step onto the ends of the pinwheel to gain access to a higher up sliding platform. From this platform, you will need to jump to another platform that will slide you into a lightning trap. When you jump to the second sliding platform, hit your crouch key until you have safely passed under the lightning trap.
The next obstacle will be a room with 3 Lifts. You will need to climb down these lifts and activate the switch at the ground level. This will turn the lifts on. They will begin moving up and down. Climb the near-by boxes to gain access to the first lift. Do not ride the lifts all the way to the top, or you will be crushed. Time it so you jump from one lift to the other when the lifts are at their lowest altitude. At the top level, you will find the FAKK Axe.
The last obstacle for this area will be a cylinder shaped room with numerous drop plates. Timing is key here. After the lowest Drop plate drops, and just as it begins to reset, jump on it. Move quickly from this plate to the next, and the next, and the next, until you reach the top. At the top of this room, you will load into Eden Shield Generator.
Eden Shield Generator
After sloshing through the sewers, you will find the Shield Generator. This area is pretty simple. Kill the Lymphorn Plants, and the Vymish. Make your way to the backside of the Generator. Time the steam valves so that you do not get burnt while crossing. There is a button on the backside of the Generator. Push this button to ride the lift to the upper layer. You will find four color-coded crystals on the upper layer. Each crystal has a wheel. Turn the wheel until the beam coming from the crystal is the same color as the crystal. You should hear a confirmation message when you get the crystal aligned. Align all four crystals, to activate the Generator, and to create a bridge that you can exit to the next room. Behind the door, you will find a push button. Push it to complete this area.
Return to Eden Market 1
When you return to Eden, you will find the place has been wrecked. In the sky, you will see the ship from the Generator, and you will see a Flesh Binder torch a local. Julie will make a comment about needing better weapons. If you got the handgun from this room earlier, then use it now. If you do not have a handgun yet, there is one on top of the building near by. You can see a screenshot of the location below (the screenshot is before the place was wrecked). If you have a handgun, but you are out of ammo, then your FAKK Axe or sword will do. You will just have a harder time dealing with the Flesh Binder. The crossbow will not work on Binders. The Binders have a plasma shield or something that will stop all the shots from the crossbow. If you are having a hard time with this Binder, then you can ship him all together. Just jump to the roof to avoid him.
You will still need to cross to the top of the building that had the handgun, even if you already have it. The door up there will be unlocked now. Inside you will have to deal with a Recruiter and the Happy Masks that he transports into the area. The more you attack the Recruiter the more Masks he will transport into the area. Recruiters are invincible so do not attack them.
Work your way through this room and back to the streets. You will need to enter and exit a few buildings while heading for Otto’s Workshop. There will be a few obstacles you will need to deal with along the way. Obstacles can smash most of the Flesh Binders that you find. Check the screenshots to see the obstacles, and the Flesh Binders. The first obstacle you will find after you exit the house will have the Forearm Armor. Climb the rope and jump to the ledge. Snatch up the Armor, and enter the nearby door. Cross this room and you will see a break in the wall. This break will take you out onto the roof area. Here you will find a clothesline to cross to the building on the other side of the road. Once on the building, you will need to pull the box over to the back wall. Now you can jump up and grab the higher ledge. Pull yourself up.
In the next room you will see a box that is about to fall over the edge. If you look below, you will see a glass widow with a Flesh Binder below it. Push the box over the edge, and it will fall through the glass and smash the Flesh Binder. Do not worry about aiming the box. It will bounce over and hit the Binder. Now you can drop down to the level with the glass window, and then drop into the room the Binder was in, and then exit through the door.
Return to Eden Market 2
You will exit out to the main Eden Market area. Otto’s Workshop will be at the end of the road. As you exit into this area, Masks will pore out and attack you. While the Masks have you distracted, a binder will break through the wall near the location where the broken steam pipe was earlier in the game. On the side of the building nearby, you will find the valve that activates the steam flow. The steam will kill the Binder instantly. Sometimes this will get buggy, and the steam will not be doing any damage. To verify this; if the steam doesn’t kill the Binder, then it will not hurt you either. In the room the binder came from, you will find 2 large Water Ampoules, and a clip. You will have to take the steam burns trying to get to the break in the wall, but when you exit you can avoid it. Stand on the rock just before the steam vent. Jump over the steam to the other side.
Now you will need to climb the scaffolding on the side of the wall. This will allow you access to the roof. On the roof you will find a stacked pile of large pipes. You will also see a release lever. Pull the lever to send the pipes rolling over the edge. The pipes will smash the Binder below. Now you can drop down and head further towards the Workshop.
Remember the fan they were arguing about earlier? Well when you walk under it, a binder will attack from behind you (from the same direction you came from). Run over to the lever that the rope is attached to. Pull the lever, and the fan will drop right on top of the Binder.
Just ahead is the Workshop. A few masks are there, but they are easy to deal with. Now, Enter the workshop.
Otto’s Workshop
When you enter the workshop, you will find a door. This door is useless. You can open it and enter the next room, but there are fire and stem vents blocking the way. You could jump through them (taking a lot of damage), but there is no point. In the first room you will find a small crawl space. You can use this to get past the fire and steam. Also in the first room, there are some power-ups in the upper corner. Use the ramp, and then climb up on the cylinder shaped equipment. On the backside of this equipment, you will find water Ampoules. Grab these, and then crawl through the crawl space. You will be on the other side of the fire and steam vents. You will see a door. Open it and enter the next room.
First, touch the switch in the back of the room. This will power up to crane. Now you can use the button near the door to move the crane. Push the button one time to move it out to the globe in the acid. Push the button a second time to lower the crane, grab the globe, and place the globe on the touch plate on the floor. This will open the shelf and reveal a new door.
Enter the door behind the shelf. You will find an Uzi and an Over and Under Attack Shotgun. There will also be food and ammo. In this room, push the switch on the wall. This will slide the box towards the side, and an elevator will lift up to get you. You will ride the elevator down to the lower floor where you will meet Otto. A cut scene will begin. This cut scene will open the plot a bit for you. Otto will tell you that you need to find Groth and locate the “Heart of the We”. After the cut scene, you will need to ride the elevator up to the pistons. Step from piston to piston to cross to the entrance to the ship. You will change into some “better” clothes when you enter the ship. Exit the door from the ship, and you will enter back out to the Town Square. This time, the place will be in ruins. Run around for items, then head into the church. The tows folks will be under the influence of the Recruiter. As you walk down the isle, they will turn into Masks. Kill them all, and open the door at the back of the church. You will find a flame thrower, some water, and a health potion. Exit the other door, and you will enter a grassy area. In this area, you will see the little girl Aerial. She will speak to you then skip off. Soul Harvester will show up at this point. This is another Boss.
Soul Harvester
Soul Harvester will be far from easy. The fire sword works very well though. The problem is once your water supply drops below 1/4th, the sword will stop working. The best plan is to circle strife around Soul Harvester and dash in and swing your sword when he is standing idle. Soul Harvester will miss you most of the time if you stay moving. However, if he is doing his “steam” attack or his “spin” attack, then he will hit you when you go in for an attack. Wait until he is not doing any kind of attack before you attack him. Just keep circling him until he stops doing whatever he was doing. Soul Harvester will vanish, and Julie will make a remark about seeing him later.
Outskirts of Eden
When you first enter this area, you will see a tower with a man on top of it, fuel, and a waterfall in the distance. Behind the tower there will be some mushrooms. Grab the fuel (Flame Thrower ammo). As you walk towards the waterfall, you will have to fight some “evil” Shgliek. You can raise your water level to Ѕ in the waterfall. Before I go on, let me cover a few things about this level in general.
There are hidden items all over the place. Some are worth the trouble of finding them and some are not. When you see leaves blowing upwards, this pinpoints the updrafts. When the leaves are blowing, you can jump into the leaves and it will take you higher. You will need to use these updrafts on this level to jump across areas that would have normally been too far for you to jump to. The green moss texture found on the side of the mountain looks just like the green vines on the side of the mountain. If you look close, you can tell them apart. The difference is that the moss is there for looks and the vines are there for you to climb on. You can climb up, down, left, or right on the vines. There will be areas where you mush climb vines to go further. In a few of the hidden areas, you will find a square wooden platform suspended by 3 ropes. All 3 ropes will connect to the center of the platform. Your weight will make the platform tilt. Too much tilt and you will fall off. Some areas will require you to tilt the platform before you jump to the ledge across from it. Just tilt the platform until it is at about a 35% angle. Then run and jump. This chapter will not cover all the hidden items. If I tried to cover them all it would make this chapter even more confusing. So free to explore all over while following my directions. Ok… From the waterfall follow the main path. You will come to a bridge. As you approach the bridge, lightning will strike the man standing in the center of it. This will kill the man and destroy the bridge. You will need to take “Dead Mans Curve” to go further ahead.
Dead Mans Curve
At Dead Mans Curve, back up to the mountain. Hit the back key again to “stick” or “cling” to the wall. Now walk slowly, one step at a time. After you pass that you will come to a dead end. On the back wall of the dead end, you will be able to climb up the Vine texture.
At the next ledge, you will need to jump down to the level below. You will see a birds nest with 2 baby birds in it. If you look up while you are near these babies, you will see a much larger mamma version of the birds. If you watch the Mamma bird, you will notice her circle pattern, and her downward dive. Ohh, You may want to run. The Mamma Bird is trying to kill you. These birds can do a lot of damage to you in a short period of time. One trick to dealing with them is to side step just before they hit you. They will jab their beaks right into the ground, and be stuck for a couple of seconds. This will give you a chance to cut them with your sword. It may take a few sword strikes, but you can kill these birds. If you do not stand and fight, you will find more birds, and this bird will continue to chase you. You will pass a few vine walls, mamma birds, and a few jumps. When you reach the other side, you will find another wall that you will need to grab the small ledge (hanging from your hands) and side step across (hand over hand).
Continue on, jumping ledges, and using updrafts. You will come to an inside area that has a sunken floor sloping downward. As you enter here, 4 Grawlix will run to attack you. If you step slowing into this area, you can get them one at a time. As you walk to the area where the Grawlix started from, a huge bolder will drop at the entrance to this area. It will follow the grove in the ground. Make sure to get out of the way.
At the end of this tunnel, you will enter into a very large cavern. To the right are some Water Ampoules. If you go to the left, you will see a ledge across a cavern drop. You can jump to that ledge, and from that ledge you can jump to the next. Then you need to climb up the 2 higher ledges.
Upper section
When you enter the room at the top of all the ledges, you will have to fight 2 Grawlix. Take care of these 2, and then jump across the ledge. You can skip them by jumping across the ledge before fighting them. At the top of the “Stairs” there will be another Grawlix. Kill him (or skip him by running on ahead) and then climb up the small ledge in the room with the rope. Jump from this ledge to the rope, and climb up. You will jump off the rope and onto the upper ledge. Now just run ahead and you will exit this level. Again, there are a lot of extra items on this level. So if you want to jump out to that wooded platform then go ahead. It will be very difficult, so save your game first.
Eden Cliffside
When you enter the Cliffside, you will be standing in a puddle of water. Behind you, there will be some fruit plants. Eat the fruit until you are at full health. Walk up the path, and you will fight a Grawlix. Enter to the room ahead, and you will see a few giant claws reaching out of caves. If look closely at the first claw, you will see that the wall it almost touches will have vines on it. Time it so you can jump and climb this wall before the claw reaches out again. Climb up until you are in a hanging position. Now time the next claw so you begin to stand up right as it touches the ground. Run quickly past this claw. The next claw is simple to pass at first. You just need to time its strikes and run across. Climb the ledge directly past the 3rd claw. From this ledge, you will jump over the 3rd claw, and stick to the vine wall.
The next 2 jumps will be the hardest jumps yet. You will need to time the claw just right on this side, before you can jump across. When you land on the other side you will be hanging by your hands. Time the next claw so that you can pull yourself up safely. Continue down the small path and you will come to a ledge. You will need to drop down into the room below. There is a puddle of water in the center of the room that you can safely land in. When you land, you will see another Vymish Mamma. This is considered a boss.
Vymish Mamma 2
This fight should be an easy one. Kill the initial swarm of Vymish then rush the Mamma. Try to stay behind her. Just keep side stepping along with her so that you are always attacking her from the rear. She will die quickly. While you are fighting, more Vymish will attack. Ignore them until the Mamma is dead. After the fight, you will need to climb the ledges in this room to enter the continuing path. You will be unable to jump on top of the meteors, but behind one of them there is a fake wall. Behind the fake wall you will find a power-up.
As you continue, you will come to another ledge with a room below it. Again there is a puddle of water for you to drop into. You may also notice the Lymphorn on the floor. You can try to kill it from up here, but the auto-aim will not target correctly. When you do drop down, 2 birds will attack. Just side step and whack them with your sword. On the small ledge above, you will find some water and some fuel. To get through the rest of this area, you will need to make a series of difficult jumps. On each jump you will need to run and jump at the last second to make it across, where you will grab the edge of the ledge. These jumps can be difficult, so I suggest you save your game after each one. When you make the final 2 jumps, you will follow a small path to a room with more claws.
As you enter this room, you will see 3 mushrooms on the ground. Do not try to pick these up. When you try to grab them, the claw will reach out and scratch you up. To the left of these mushrooms you will find 2 fruit plants. Eat the fruit instead of the mushrooms. Now, see the rope? Jump onto it and climb down. At the bottom of the rope there will be another claw waiting for you to get into its range. So to avoid this claw, swing back and forth and land on the ground near the small green pellets. Grab the pellets and drop down to the puddle below. Again, a claw will be hiding and waiting for you. So when you drop to the puddle, aim for the side of it. Two Grawlix are down here, and they will rush you when they see you. You can stand behind a claw, and allow the claw to do the dirty work. Now head towards the back of this room, and climb the small ledges. To reach the last ledge, you will need to time the claw so that it does not hit you when you pull yourself up.
After passing the claw, follow the small pathway until you come to a room with a small bridge. Be cautious of the Sucknblaugh Plants, they will kill you if you get too close. Jump down to the bridge area. While you are crossing the bridge, a boulder will fall and destroy it. Make your way across bridge quickly, or the boulder will take you with it. Once on the other side, Soul Harvester will return and fight you. Once defeated, Soul Harvester will drop the “Soul-Sucker”. Now use your slingshot to knock the green meteors down that are at the back of the small cave. If they are already on the ground, then set a detonator near them. This will blow the waterfall open, and allow you access to the Mooagly Swamps.
Soul Harvester Returns
To deal with Soul Harvester the second time, quickly run into the tunnel near by. In here, you will be safe from the birds above. Soul Harvester will follow, but he will not get in the water unless you do. You will be able to take a stand, and fight him face to face. Just whack him with your fire sword as fast as you can. If you get low on hit points, eat some of the fruit nearby. Be sure to return towards the bridge and grab the “Soul-Sucker”.
Mooagly Swamps
When you enter this area, you will see a giant named Obadia. He has a shield in his foot, and needs your help removing it. After you have the shield, Obadia will carry you through the swamp.
After Obadia sets you down, you will see a tunnel carved in a tree. Before going through the tree, follow the shoreline towards the left. You will have to deal with a lot of Gassyerass plants, and two Dark Creepers. The normal slingshot will take care of the Gassyerass plants, and the Fire Sword works well on the Dark Creepers. Grab the Fuel can, and then head through the tree entrance. On an elevated area, you will find the Chainsaw Sword. Explore around the area for items, then head off towards the right (see picture).
Continue ahead until you come to an upright log. Push this down to make a bridge to the island. Cross to the island, and make a jump to the Lilly pad or the Roots of the tree. The Lilly pad will have some mushrooms, and the roots will lead you further ahead. Keep exploring until you find a plant hanging above a flower. To deal with this plant, you will need to allow it to swallow you. As you are going upwards, swing your sword at the main pod section. You will kill it, and be set free.
When you enter an area where there are 3 Sucknblaugh Plants and 1 Shgliek, pay attention to what happens. The Shgliek will get in a puddle of water (which is actually a puddle of Sucknblaugh Juice). Then when the Shgliek steps into the plant, it will be spit back out. The Sucknblaugh Juice is the plants excretions. So if you have this stuff all over you, the plant will find you unappetizing, and spit you out. You will use this to your advantage. Get in the juice, and then step into the plant. The plant will shoot you across to another plant. Repeat until you are launched up into the tree. Now you can follow the roots down towards a series of Lilly pads.
Near the Lilly Pads, you will find “Fire Birds”. These guys are the same as the birds that you are use too, however they do a fiery explosion when they hit you. To easily deal with these, hold your shield above your head. When the bird dive- bombs you, it will hit your shield and kill itself.
If you take the path of Lilly Pads towards the left, you will find a health potion. Take the path towards the right to continue further ahead. You will come to a large clearing. You may hear the music change, and then a group of Happy Masks will attack. Use the Soul-Sucker on this first wave of enemies to drain as much water as you can. Quickly switch to the Fire Sword and Shield, or the Over and Under Plasma Shotgun. A Vymish Mamma and a swarm of fire enhanced Vymish will attack in the second wave. The Over and Under Shotgun works very well. Use the grenades (Right mouse button) to quickly take down the Mamma, and the shotgun bursts (Left mouse button) on the swarms. Once you have the Vymish out of the way, switch to the sword & shield setup. Another wave of masks will attack you now. You do not need to worry about draining water from them. There will be water at the end of this cave.
Dark Mooagly Swamps
As you enter the Dark Swamps, you see lots of Gassyerass pods. You can shoot these with your guns, or with your slingshot to clear the way. If you step slowly out into the opening, a Dark Creeper will attack. This creeper will take out the left hand pods for you. At this point, the swamps will open up. It may look as if you have many different directions that you can go in, but in reality, there are two. You can go left or right from the starting area. The left path will take you to a series of elevated islands. Climb the islands and drop down to the other side. You will see a large face stuck in the ground. Enter the mouth on the face.
Inside the face, you will be at the top of a small elevator. Drop down to the lower level, and hit the switch. This will open a door in a tree that is in the swamp. It will also open a small door in this room. In the door there will be a Grawlix and a crank lever. Turn the lever until the elevator is all of the way down (continue to hold the use key). Now step onto the elevator before it goes back up. Exit the face, and use the Lilly Pads to get to the Sucknblaugh Juice puddle on the other side. Once you are covered with the Juice, you can return across the Lilly Pads and step into the Sucknblaugh plant. The Plant will spit you back onto the elevated islands so you can return to the main swamp area.
Head back to the entrance to this area. Remember you took a left to go further? The open tree will be towards the right of the entrance. Enter the tree, and push the button. You will ride up to the top of the tree. Walk around to the backside of the tree, and you will find another Uzi, some ammo, and new clothes. Hit the lever that is on the plank, and it will lower a log bridge across the swamp. Return to the tree, and take it back down to the ground level.
Now return to the elevated islands that lead to the face. Just before the islands, you will find the log bridge that you lowered while you were in the treetop. Continue on, avoiding the Sucknblaugh plant, and killing the two Dark Creepers that come out of the swamp. You will come to a Sucknblaugh Plant that will block your path. If you look above the Plant, you will see a log with a Shgliek at the end of it. Use your Slingshot and hit the log (not the Shgliek). The log will drop, and the Shgliek will fall into the plant. You have only a few seconds; so quickly jump over the plant while it is munching on the Shgliek.
Now that you have passed the plant, you will have to deal with claws. You will find a Sucknblaugh plant just after the claws, and it will block your path. To get pass this plant, first you will need to climb up the nearby ledge. The ledge is near the last claw (look closely). Once your up on the ledge, you will see a Shgliek. Use your Slingshot to stun the Shgliek, and then hit the use key to pick it up. Throw the Shgliek down to the lower level. Jump down, and stun him again. This time, pick him up and throw him into the Sucknblaugh plant. Now you will be able to pass the plant. You will need to pass a few more claws, and then you will exit this area.
Swamps Confrontation
When you enter the “Swamps Confrontation”, you need to step slowly. A spike trap will trigger as you walk forward. Once the trap has been activated, you will need to drop down into the pit, crossing the spikes, and climb up the rope on the other side. Before you leap off of the rope to the ground, climb higher on the rope, and grab the Tiki Rune.
Now, you have 2 main directions to go. Off towards the right there are a few houses, and straight ahead there are 3 Gassyerass vines. Go straight; you will fight a few Lymphorns and Dark Creepers. You will see a large spiraling root, or vine around one of the trees. Walk around this, and grab the Tiki Rune. Use the Monkey Bars to cross to the other side. You should see a house and a log hanging by a rope. The house will have an opening in the roof for you to jump through, and the log can be reached after you finish with this house.
Drop down into the hole in the roof, and explore the small house. You will find a lever on the back wall. This will open a small plate leading to the cellar. Enter the cellar and you will find some ammo and the Knee Armor. When you grab the Armor, you will hear heavy footsteps that sound like the footsteps of Obadia. Whatever it is, it will break the small boathouse open so you can reach the raft. It will also knock the log (the one above the roof) loose, and all you access to it.
Make your way back to the tree with the large root. Go up and cross the Monkey Bars again. From the ledge, you will be able to jump to the log. You will have a better chance if you jump so that you grab the log with your hands, instead of landing on it with your feet. You will need all 3 of the Tiki Runes. Grab the 3rd Rune, and then head for the stone faces on the island (Easter Island type). Jump from the extended leaf on the plant to the elevated island. Walk down the step shaped islands, and place the 3 Runes at the base of each head. Once you place all three Runes, the Horn of Conjuring will appear.
The Horn of Conjuring will summon up to 10 Vymish to work for you. Do not use it all up though.
Now return to the broken boathouse, and step onto the small raft that is in the swamp. The raft will take you to Shkynerpad (area Boss).
Shkynerpad
After you exit the raft, the walls will close. The pad will unfold, and reveal a Large stem in the center contained by 10 smaller stems. Along the outside of the pad there will be 2 long stems. Ignore the 2 long stems, and the center stem for now, and quickly rush the small stems. If you run in-between 2 of the small stems, you will be safe from their attacks. With your sword, chop some of the small stems off of the plant. You do not need to chop them all off. You are simply trying to make a hole so you can attack the center stem. Once you have knocked off 3 or 4 of the small stems, you will be able to attack the center. I suggest that you switch to the over and under shotgun at this point. When the center stem lowers its head to do a lightning attack, shoot a grenade at it. Two accurate grenade shots should kill the Shkynerpad. If you are out of grenades, then use an Uzi or even a sword. The key to this is to keep moving from side to side while waiting for the Shkynerpad to lower its head. By doing this, you will avoid most of the attacks from the stems. When the head lowers, take your shot (or rush in and whack it with your sword).
Billy Goats Gruff
You are still in the same area, but a few things have changed. Unlike the swamps, you can get in the water here. In fact, you will have to in order to continue. There are a few power ups (see screenshot) in the area as well as food and water.
Once you have your hit points and water level back in good shape, dive on into the river. Follow the flow of water (go downstream). You will come across a few ledges. On the ledges there will be a Tiki Head, or a Tiki Rune. You will need to place all 3 Tiki Runes in this area on their corresponding Tiki head to get through this area. Each time you place a rune at a head, it will open a gate, allowing you to go further downstream. At the end of the river there will be a large waterfall. Do not fall over it. Step up and out of the river and onto the riverbank (the shore). If you walk towards the edge of the cliff, Julie will take a few steps back then she will jump over. When you awake, Dark Creepers will swarm you…
Cemetery of the We
As you enter the Cemetery, you will be attacked by 6 Fire Birds. Use your shield to block them. You will find a lot of items in the general area. Search everywhere. Namely, you will find the Lightning Sword and the Shoulder Armor. Now, if you remember from the cut scene when we entered this area, we need to enter the Wind of Spirit Temple. It will be the Temple with the 2 green faces, and the moving spike things by the door. Fill up on water and health before entering.
Wind of Spirit
When you enter the Wind of Spirit, 2 Dark Creepers will attack you. Once you kill both of the Creepers, the large Mushroom Man statue (at least that is what it looks like) will open the path. There are some mushroom platforms off towards the left that will have some items on them, but the path you need to follow is through the path the mushroom man opened. It may not look like much of a path, but the idea here is to jump from the ledge out onto the mushroom platforms. Most of these jumps will be very difficult. I would suggest you save after each jump.
Continue jumping from platform to platform until you come to a cliff edge. Here you will need to jump from the edge of the cliff out onto the mushroom platform. This jump is amazingly difficult. You will need to jump around the moss texture that is hanging in mid air, and onto a slanted edge. Good luck.
Continue jumping from platform to platform until you come to an area that has 2 temple looking buildings. The closest temple will be the exit from this area. Before we can exit, we need to enter the Temple at the opposite edge. Jump your way over to it and enter.
I will try to break this temple down simply.
You have a hole in the center of the floor. There will be two doors in this area, and both are locked closed. On the edges of the hole you will have enough room to jump to the other side. In front of the 2 green faces, there will be large movable blocks. Slide both blocks so that you can jump onto them. Jump from the blocks to the upper layers. Follow the upper layers down and drop behind the doors. Ok so I didn’t do a good job with that. Anyway, you will want to jump across the hole in the floor. Along the edges of the hole there is enough room for you to jump across. Go to the back of the Temple. You will see 3 green faces, and 2 large blocks. The blocks can be pushed (by pushing your use key) outward. On the walls near where you pushed the blocks to, there will be a small ledge. Climb the ledges to get on top of the blocks. From the top of the blocks, jump to the ledge on the upper layer. There will be an upper layer on each side of the room. Once you are on the upper layer, you can travel back towards the entrance of the temple. When this small path dead ends, you should be able to jump towards the wall, which will cause you to fall inside of the rooms that had the locked doors.
One room will have 3 switches with a lightning beam pulsing across them. Time the lightning beam so that you can run up and hit a switch before the next pulse. Repeat for the other 2 switches. This will activate the left hand wind blower (green faces).
The other room will have a combination lock. If you look on the back wall behind each of the 3 wheel valves, you will see the color code. You need to change each icon into a blue icon. Three blue icons will turn on the machine. To do this, avoid turning any wheel that has blue or red colored icons. Turn the neutral icons (white in color). You should start by turning the far right hand wheel first. When you change all 3 of the icons to blue, the machine will turn on, and the right hand wind blower will be activated.
After you have activated both wind blowers, a wind crystal will emerge from the statue in the back of the temple. To get back to it, you will need to jump back across the hole in the floor. The wind blowers are activated now, and they will blow you back to where you started if you do not time them right. Watch the green smoke that comes out of their mouth. This is the wind. If you are trying to jump across, watch the masks and jump when they are not blowing. Once you are across, avoid the stream of wind coming out of the blowers, and make your way to the statue. Now that you have the crystal, exit the temple and head for the temple on the other side… Remember? It is the exit from this area.
When you return to the Cemetery, the cut scene will show you your next Temple (Water of Purity).
Water of Purity
The Water temple will be easy compared to the Wind temple. However, there are 2 difficult areas. Feel free to explore for items, but the main objective is across the void. You can see it as you enter the temple. You will also see a transporter pad to your left. Step through it, and you will enter a room with 2 crank levers on each side of the room. When you jump out onto the main floor area, a Soul Harvester will warp in from above and attack. After you kill him, the floor will begin to fall out from under you. Ignore the Ghosts in the area; you do not have time to deal with them. Run to the crank on the left hand side of the room, and turn it until platform 1 is completely upright. Now run over to the crank on the left hand side of the room, and lower platform 2 until it is all of the way down. This will open up an elevator for you to ride upwards. Once you are on the elevator, you can deal with the ghosts. Jump from the elevator to the platform, and enter the transporter pad.
The next section will consist of 2 ropes and a “big wheel”. Climb down the first rope, and enter the door on the right hand side of the room. In the back of this room, there will be 3 buttons. Push all 3 and the “Big Wheel will be activated. Now return to the hallway that the big wheel is in. Wait until the wheel passes you by, and then run to the door that it was blocking before. The Masks in the area will endlessly continue to pour in from above. Just kill the main group, and enter the next door. A Bender will be inside, be he should be easy to deal with. If you are low on hit points, pull out that Chain Gun. If you have health, then a few lightning sword chops will take him out. Climb down the room in this room. At the bottom of the rope you will see a couple of Grawlix and some Masks. Swing on the rope so that you land on the upper layer across the room. From here you can take out the bad guys with the rocket launcher or the over and under shotgun. Drop down and hit the 4 buttons. This will activate the water shrine thing that you saw when you entered the temple. In the room with the 4 buttons; you should see a new door has opened. Inside there is a transporter. As you step towards it, a claw will break through the wall. Time the claw, and jump into the transporter. This will take you back to the water shrine. Set the Fog gem (Wind Crystal) on the shrine, and two gypsies will appear. They will drop a hilt (looks like a Shgliek?). Follow them into the blue light stuff, and you will return to the Cemetery. Easy enough… The next Temple will be the Sanctity of Blood.
Sanctity of Blood
Creepy name huh? Well it only gets creepier (is that a word?). When you enter the Temple of Blood, you will be on a small winding pathway. On the edges of this pathway, you will need to avoid the pinchers. Make your way upward toward the Temple itself. Along the way, you will find Flesh Binders (rocket launcher these guys from a distance) and more Fire Birds. If you have been reading this walkthrough from the start (or mid-way), then you know the best way to deal with them is with the shield. The best piece of advice I can give you for this entire level is this… Take 5 – 10 steps then hold your shield up to the sky. If you do not see any Birds, then continue on. Once you enter the main Temple area, you will see the faeries that you unlocked in the Temple of Water (Water of Purity area). The two Faeries will lead you from platform to platform. If you jump on a platform that the faeries are not hovering over, then it will fall out from under your feet. So… Just follow the faeries. You will need to activate the switches along the outside of the area. I suggest you stop on each of the platforms and hold your shield to the sky. The Fire Birds in this area will knock you right off. Each switch will lower the center area more. The final switch will lower it far enough for you to jump into the center area. Shoot all the Flesh Binders with the Rocket Launcher from a distance, and use the shield/sword setup on the Soul Harvesters. You can block all of their attacks with the shield, and when the opportunity opens, throw a few blows at them. Once the area is safe, go up and stab the Golden Shgliek with the Hilt you found in the Water of Purity area. Exit this temple back to the Cemetery… The Final doors will open and allow you access to the Bridge of Reason.
Bridge of Reason
When you enter this area, you will see a path leading straight ahead, a path off to the left, and a path off to the right. The left and right paths have some power-ups; the path straight ahead is the path we want to follow. Kill the Binders with the Rocket Launcher. As you get to the see through floor, notice the bridge ahead of you will collapse. Keep waiting and the bridge will return. Save your game now! As the bridge is returning to normal, jump out into the darkness. You should time this so that you land when the bridge has returned. Run quickly across the bridge, and jump for the platform.
In the next area, you will need to kill the two Soul Harvesters to make the wheel lever pop up. Turn the lever, and two staircases will rise up from the floor. Walk these up to the top room. Kill the Binders along the way. Enter the room and you will be taken into the Tomb of the We.
Tomb of the We
Walk up to the Heart of the We and a cut scene will begin. After the cut scene, you will need to fight Lord Tyler. This is actually easier then it may look. You can use the Chain Gun, the Rocket Launcher, the Over and Under, and the Soul- Sucker for this fight. I suggest the Rocket Launcher. No matter which weapon you use, when you run out of ammunition for it, more will respawn. I suggest the Rocket Launcher because the respawn locations for the Rockets are all very easy to get to. The Rocket Launcher also uses a single type of ammunition. With the Chain Gun or the Over and Under, you will need to remember 6 (instead of 3) respawn points). When you run out of ammo, more will spawn in 3 different locations. You must grab the ammo from all 3 locations for more to respawn.
Lord Tyler
To kill Lord Tyler, circle strife around him and shoot rockets towards his feet. I suggest his feet because you will not miss very much, and you can kill the Binders and Masks that spawn. After 5 or 6 direct Rocket hits, Lord Tyler will fall to his knees and drink some of the water he has around his waste. You need to steal it from him. Quickly switch to the Soul-Sucker, and suck the water right out of his mouth. This will prevent him from healing up during the fight. After you take his water from him 3 times in a row, he will take to the sky. Use the rocket Launcher on him, and he will return to the ground. Before he returns to the ground however, he will drop his sword (ohh and his arm). You will need to climb the incline and grab the sword. After you have the sword, you need to continue to use the Rocket Launcher until Lord Tyler has no life left. Now whip out that huge sword you grabbed, and chop him up. You will need to stand on the elevated areas, or jump upwards to attack him. Aim for his head. When he falls to his knees, lop his damn head off!
