MISSION 1: NEAR HIIGARA
Your jump to this sector was in response to a defense call from other ships in
the Hiigaran fleet. In this mission you'll be performing several actions, all of
them designed to drive the current invaders away from Hiigara.
Objective 1: Destroy Taiidan Bombers
Check your Sensor View first to get your bearings. The flashing beacon is the
location of the attack that's underway. Before you can help, you need more
resources and some fighters.
Start your Workers Harvesting resources in the immediate vicinity of the Kuun-
Lan. Build 8 Acolytes and place them on Aggressive Tactics nearby. At least two
waves of Taiidan fighters will approach, but your Acolytes should make quick
work
of them.
Build more Acolytes with your new resources. It's a good idea to join them with
the first group of 8 to form a wing of 16. Set them to a group (CTRL + 1-9),
choose Aggressive Tactics, check your sensors, and move them towards the
flashing
beacon in Claw formation. The Acolytes will engage, finishing off the Taiidan
Bombers quickly.
Objective 2: Explore the Designated Region
Send your Recons to explore the area near the flashing beacon (check your
Sensors
to find it). Once the Recons are in range, you'll see the Resourcers on your
sensor grid.
Objective 3: Destroy the Resourcers
Send your wing of Acolytes across the map to destroy the Resourcers discovered
by
your Recons. When they arrive, take out the fighter cover first, then destroy
the
resource ships.
Bring your Workers over to begin Harvesting here. Build a Processor, and place
it
near the Workers to speed up processing.
Objective 4: Defend Proximity Sensors
Before continuing, you'll get the message that you can research Linking
Technology. Do it, then bring your Acolytes in for Upgrades. Build as many new
ACV class ships as you can, and link all your old Acolytes using the new tech.
Send your new strike force of ACVs to defend the Proximity Sensors. Place the
ACVs in Claw formation for best results, and take out the Multi-Gun Corvettes
near the Proximity Sensor.
Objective 5: Destroy Crippled Heavy Cruiser
Repair any damaged ACVs quickly, then launch them toward the fleeing Heavy
Cruiser near the beacon.
Beyond the main battle, you'll see the crippled Cruiser making its escape. The
Cruiser has fighter cover, but ignore it. Attack the Cruiser from behind and
wipe
it out to complete the mission.
OPTIONAL
If you're feeling daring, take on the Carrier and its escort that's between your
ships and the crippled Cruiser. Hit it from below or behind for best results.
MISSION 2: OUTSKIRTS OF THE HIIGARAN SYSTEM
The Bushan-Re has been damaged and is missing somewhere in this sector. Your
assistance is needed in locating her before the Turanic Raiders can find her and
finish the job.
Objective 1: Build the Engineering Module
Before heading out to find the Bushan-Re, you need to build the Engineering
Module so you can prepare your Workers for Repair and Salvage duty. Enter the
Build Manager and build the module. Begin researching Repair once the module is
complete.
Objective 2: Find the Bushan-Re
As always, start your Workers Harvesting resources. You have four Recons when
the
mission begins. Send them out in four directions away from the Command Ship to
search for the Bushan-Re.
Watch your Sensor view - there are enemy fighters all over this sector so keep
an
eye out for them. Keep your ACVs close to the Kuun-Lan and on Aggressive
tactics,
since some of the enemy fighters will find you and attack shortly.
Eventually (if you haven't found her in awhile) you'll be notified that there
are
some trace echoes that might be the Kuun-Lan. Build several Acolytes (8 or so)
to
protect the Kuun-Lan, and send your ACVs to investigate.
Once the Bushan-Re has been spotted, protect it with your ACVs until the sector
is clear of fighters.
Objective 3: Repair the Bushan-Re
Make sure you've upgraded your Workers, and send some to help repair the Bushan-
Re. Keep an eye on your Sensors view to help them avoid enemy fighters along the
way. It's important that you begin repairing quickly, as the Bushan-Re will come
under attack soon.
Keep both your Command Ship and the Bushan-Re defended as the Turanic Raiders
will continue to hound both sectors.
Once the Bushan-Re is repaired, you'll receive orders to salvage a nearby
derelict vessel.
Objective 4: Salvage the Derelict Vessel
Check your Sensor View and move the group that repaired/defended the Bushan-Re
towards the derelict ship. Upon arrival, command your Workers to Salvage the
vessel.
You must protect the salvaged vessel and keep it from being destroyed or the
mission will fail, so keep your ACVs close to it to repel Raiders.
Objective 5: Destroy all Turanic Raiders
Once you've salvaged the vessel, mop up the remaining Turanic Raiders in the
area
to complete the mission.
MISSION 3: CORUC-TEL SYSTEM
The Clee-San is in trouble, and as this mission starts, you will be receiving a
signal from her. Your goal here is to find her and escort her out of trouble.
Objective 1: Find the Clee-San
Before you head out to find her, start your Workers Harvesting. You can also
build the Engineering module and begin research on Linking Technology. Keep an
eye on your Build Manager, and research new tech as it becomes available. While
you look for the Clee-San, be sure to research the Holographic Emitter and
Afterburner.
Don't rush, but you need to get moving to find the Clee-San soon, or an enemy
fleet will arrive that you can't defeat. There are several wings of enemy
fighters between you and the beacon indicating the last known coordinates of the
Clee-San, as well as a mine field. Use at least 16-24 Acolytes as you approach
in
an 'X' formation - set them to Evasive tactics to deal with the mines.
Don't let the fighters distract you - deal with them quickly to avoid geting
killed by the mines. When you locate the Clee-San, you'll discover that she's
surrounded by mines and can't move without activating them.
Objective 2: Send a Mimic to the Clee-San
Build a Mimic with your new technology. Set it to cloak an enemy Minelayer
Corvette, and send it to the Clee-San. Enemy ships and mines will leave the
Mimic
alone, since it appears to be one of theirs.
Once the Mimic arrives. it will transmit the mine locations back to the
Kuun-Lan.
Objective 3: Clear a Path for the Clee-San
Build a Weapons module to give your strike craft some much needed missile
firepower. Using an 'X' formation of Acolytes, approach the minefield. Several
enemy fighters will try to draw you off course, but focus primarily on the
mines.
It's not a bad idea to move the Kuun-Lan closer to the mines (but not close
enough to trigger them), since it will help draw some of the fighters away from
your mine-clearing effort.
Once the path to the Clee-San is clear, it will approach the Kuun-Lan. Keep it
under heavy guard with your remaining Acolytes to avoid further fighter attacks.
When it arrives, the Clee-San will dock with the Kuun-Lan to end the mission.
If you can't manage to get the mines cleared quickly enough, a massive Turanic
Raider strike force will arrive, and they will wipe out the Kuun-Lan and the
Clee-
San.
MISSION 4: DEEP SPACE (TEL SECTOR)
Something has gone horribly wrong. The Kuun-Lan has been forced to jettison its
lower decks, including the Hangar Module due to an unknown force that was
somehow
infecting it. You must first rebuild the ship, then find out what's going on.
Objective 1: Rebuild the Hangar Module
Begin rebuilding the Hangar Module. At the same time, send your Workers out to
gather more resources to make sure that you can complete the job. Once the
Hangar
Module is complete, the objective is accomplished.
Objective 2: Escort the Clee-San
Select 10 of your Acolytes to escort the Clee-San. Don't use anymore than this -
you're about to lose every one of them. Have your Acolytes surround the Clee-San
in sphere formation when they arrive.
Once the Clee-San pulls alongside the damaged module, the objective is complete.
Unfortunately for your ships, an infection beam from the damaged module will
infect them, and they will turn and attack the Kuun-Lan.
Objective 3: Research Infection
Build as many Acolytes as you can, and move them into Wall formation in front of
the Kuun-Lan. As the Beast fighters approach, wipe them out before they reach
the
Kuun-Lan.
More waves of Beast fighters will attack if your Workers stumble upon their
resource field - keep building Acolytes to replace any you lose until your
research is done.
Objective 4: Protect the Kuun-Lan
It's not over yet - the Turanic Raiders have discovered your position and are
still after the Clee-San. Despite your warning, they will approach the infected
module. Needless to say, there are shortly more Beast ships headed your way.
Hold off the fighters nearest the Kuun-Lan, then jump into Hyperspace as soon as
you can.
MISSION 5: AIOWA SYSTEM
The sector you have fled to has a Bentusi Station in it. It's possible that they
will know something about the Beast. Your mission is to locate their station and
find out what you can.
Objective 1: Intercept the Bentusi Station
Don't even think about heading for the Bentusi Station as soon as the mission
starts. Approaching the station is what will trigger the rest of the events in
this mission. Halt the construction of the Acolytes currently in queue, then
build Workers. Gather resources first, and build a large strike force of 15-20
ACVs.
Research all available technology as well - you'll need it all in the battles to
come. When you're ready, send out a Seeker (Recon) to intercept the Bentusi
Station which is under attack by the Beast fleet.
Objective 2: Protect the Bentusi Station
It's an ugly situation - even with your ACVs, you'll have to use them wisely if
they are going to survive the firestorm near the Bentusi Station. However, first
you need to fend off the wave of Beast ships headed towards the Kuun-Lan.
Set all ACVs into Claw formation and wipe out the Ion Array Frigates first. Mop
up the fighters next, to clear the area around your Command Ship.
Send your ACVs over to the Bentusi Station and start destroying the Ion Array
Frigates that are pounding the Station. Keep your ACVs on Evasive tactics so
they
will avoid some of the fighters, and pick one target for the entire group at a
time.
Begin clearing out the other ships - be sure to build more ACVs as you lose
them.
Also, consider moving the Kuun-Lan closer to the action to speed up
reinforcement
arrival.
Target the Ion Array Frigates first - unfortunately, you can't save the Bentusi
Station no matter what you do. However, if you can keep them alive long enough,
the Bentusi will self-destruct rather than be infected, severely damaging the
Beast fleet in the process.
Ignore the Beast Heavy Carrier when it arrives; for your mission to succeed, it
must reach the Bentusi Station and try to infect it. If you're having trouble
keeping the Bentusi alive until the Heavy Carrier arrives, send over some
Processors to heal it and your other ship. They will also help attack enemy
frigates. With their armor and repair ability, they make good ships for this
sort
of mission.
Objective 3: Protect the Caal-Shto
The Caal-Shto has no idea what they are up against. You must protect them as
well
as the Bentusi Station. This Objective is ongoing as long as the Beast ships are
around.
You don't need to contstantly guard the Caal-Shto, but if you see it getting
swarmed, send some ACVs and a Processor for repairs over to help.
Objective 4: Destroy the Beast Fleet
With the Bentusi gone and the Beast fleet a shadow of what it was, you can focus
on wiping out the remainder of the strike force that attacked the Bentusi. Focus
on the Heavy Cruiser - it will infect your ships if you don't kill it quickly.
Don't forget to protect the Caal-Shto as well - in fact, you can pull your ACVs
back to the Caal-Shto to give it some cover and finish off a few waves of the
Beast there. If necessary, heal it with your Processors before continuing.
Once the smaller strike force is history, you're not done - more will keep
coming
until you find their source. Locate the Beast Carrier on your Sensors and head
for it.
To bring down the Carrier fast, use Acolytes (at least 20 - as many as you can
construct) and launch their missiles simultaneously. You should be able to
successfully sneak in from below and fire before the Carrier can infect your
ships.
IMPORTANT!
Be careful - the Carrier can infect your ships, so you want to destroy it as
soon
as possible. Scuttle any ships that become infected while they're still spinning
out of control, or you'll be fighting your own ships as well.
Objective 5: Build Advanced Engineering Module
With the Beast threat neutralized, you can begin building an Advanced
Engineering
Module. Once the module is complete, go ahead and mine any remaining resources
before ending the mission.
MISSION 6: NEBULA
Your goal here is to guide the Caal-Shto through the Nebula to safety. This is
no
easy task since Imperialist Taiidan ships are sure to be lurking in the area.
Objective 1: Explore the Taiidan Base
Unlike other missions, you can't let your Workers wander around the area looking
for resources. If they are spotted by Imperials, you're mission will be much
harder. If you must let them find resources, keep a close ey on them and don't
let them wander off.
Use workers to repair the Caal-Shto as well before you search for the Taiidan
Base. Build all the Support Modules you can afford in addition to the Armor
module, and make sure you've researched the new technology.
Build two large strike forces of ACVs (20 or so in one, at least 10 in another).
If you prefer, you can leave one of the wings in Acolyte form instead of ACV.
Send a Mimic disguised as an Interceptor over to check out the Taiidan Base.
Park
it nearby, and you'll get early warning from here on about enemy activity.
Objective 2: Scout NAV Points
Due to the sensor-dampening properties of the Nebula, the Imperialists can't see
you until they are at close range. On the other hand, you can't see them either.
You need to scout the NAV points that lead to the jump point to avoid their
forces. Send two Recons out to do the job, one NAV point at a time.
IMPORTANT!
Repair the Caal-Shto before you clear the first NAV point! It was mentioned
earlier, but you need to make sure she can take punishment if any enemy ships
get
through to her.
Once the first NAV point is clear, the Caal-Shto will start following them
towards the jump point.
Objective 3: Escort and Protect the Caal-Shto with your Command Ship
At all costs, you must make sure that the Taiidan don't spot your main fleet or
a
disaster like the one pictured above will happen. There are too many Imperial
ships in the area for you to defeat.
Place one of your ACV (or Acolyte) wings between the Imperial base and your
ships. Place another at the front of your convoy. This way you can respond to
new
launches of scouts from the base, and also help clear the path ahead of
minefields. As you clear NAV points, remember that the Caal-Shto will keep
moving
along the nav beam.
Use your Acolytes / ACVs to clear mines well ahead of the crippled ship. When
you
are almost to the final NAV beacon, you'll discover that a Heavy Cruiser and its
escort is blocking your path.
Objective 4: Research Phased Telemetry
Pause your game here and take stock of the situation. You must research Phased
Telemetry quickly and deploy several Leeches to take out the Cruiser BEFORE the
Caal-Shto - which doesn't have the sense to stop and wait - runs into the
Imperial force.
Once your research is complete, build several Leeches and send them out toward
the Cruiser.
Objective 5: Destroy the Heavy Cruiser and Escort
Target the Heavy Cruiser with your Leechs (your Recon should be able to get
close
enough for you to locate it on Sensors) and let them go to work. They won't get
the job done before you get too close for comfort, so launch a wing of fighters
ahead of the Caal-Shto and launch missiles directly at the Cruiser.
Keep after it, as the Defenders around it aren't much threat if you've
sufficiently repaired the Caal-Shto. Once the Heavy Cruiser is history, the
Caal-
Shto will leave the Nebula via a Slipgate. Initiate Hyperdrive and follow her to
complete the mission.
MISSION 7: OUTSKIRTS OF NEBULA - RESCUE CONVOY
A fleet of Colony vessels is crossing the sector, and as you enter the area,
you'll receive a distress beacon from them. As the only ship in the area, it's
your job to check it out and see if you can help the convoy.
Objective 1: Investigate Mayday Signal
As you approach the besieged colonists, you'll see a string of Colony ships
strung out across the sector.
Objective 2: Protect the Convoy from the Beast
Protecting them all will be nearly impossible - some of them are bound to become
infected by the Beast cruise missiles. Surround the closest ones with ACVs or
Acolytes in Sphere formation to repel the attacks on them. The more of the
Colony
ships you can save, the fewer beast ships and Cruise Missiles you will have to
face in this mission.
You must track down the sources of the missiles. Watch your Sensors, and when
you
detect a missile launch, send some fighters to investigate.
Once some of the Colony ships are infected, you're going to have to move quickly
to finish them off.
Objective 3: Research EMP
A useful tool is an EMP blast - an attack that your can research shortly after
the Cruise Missiles start attacking. Make sure to upgrade your existing ACVs to
take advantage of this attack, which will render the missiles inoperative.
Objective 4: Destroy Infected Ship(s)
Follow the missiles back to the ships they came from, and use Sphere formation
to
finish them off before they can fire more missiles. Set your fighters to Evasive
tactics to avoid the missiles bombarding them.
Once all the infected ships are destroyed, you will be able to end the mission.
MISSION 8: REPUBLIC SPY
The Colonists have informed you that the Beast infection may be of Imperial
origin. They claim that a Republic spy has information linking the Imperialists
to the Beast. Seek out the spy and investigate this claim.
Objective 1: Harvest Resources and Rebuild
You've done this many times before. Quickly build up your resources and rebuild
damaged portions of the ship. You should also check to be sure you've researched
everything you need for this mission.
Objective 2: Protect Taiidan Rebel Spy
The Spy is headed towards the Kuun-Lan - locate it on your Senors and send out a
detachment of fighters (ACVs or Acolytes) to escort it back to the Kuun-Lan.
Build some Hive Frigates while you wait - they are excellent ships for the
upcoming battle.
As the Spy approaches the Command ship, several waves of incoming Cruise
Missiles
will zero in on your forces. The Hive Frigates and other fighters will make
quick
work of them. Place them in Wall formation in front of the oncoming missiles for
best results, or Sphere formation around the Kuun-Lan and Spy.
Once the Spy is safe, he will tell you about some Taiidan Resourcers that might
yield more intel if captured.
Objective 3: Capture 3 Taiidan Resource Collectors
The next part of your mission involves using some of your Workers to capture
some
of the Taiidan Resourcers.
You will need to send some support along with your Workers to rendezvous with
the
enemy Resource collectors. However, be sure that they are set to Neutral
tactics.
Carefully target each Resource Collector with a few fighters to lower it's
health
enough so that your Workers can salvage it. If you bring enough Workers, you can
just grab them without damaging them.
A fleet of Imperial Ion and Support Frigates will arrive to defend their
Resource
Collectors.Destroy the Gravwell generator first, then focus on the Frigates. If
possible, use Hive Frigates set to Neutral and target each one in turn with a
Swarm to take all but one of the Support Frigates out quickly. Do not destroy
the
last Frigate, but destroy all ships other than the three Resourcers and the
Frigate. Use Workers to salvage the crippled ships.
Once you have captured all three Resourcers, the objective is complete.
Objective 4: Capture 1 Imperial Frigate
You don't have to capture the Frigate after the Resource Collectors. You can
salvage it at any time during the mission. Use some Acolytes or Hive Frigates to
disable it, then bring in some Workers to salvage it. You can grab it with two
Workers even though it still appears to be a functioning ship.
Capturing a Frigate completes the mission.
Objective 5: Do NOT let any Enemy Ships Escape
This is a crucial part of the mission - destroy every enemy ship in the area
except for the ones you've salvaged. Use your Hive Frigates to make quick work
of
them, then have them stand down.
MISSION 9: CLOSE ORBIT, GOZAN IV (TAIDAN RESEARCH PLANET)
The Taiidan have a sample of the Beast material hidden in one of their research
complexes. If they've found a way to isolate it, you need that information.
Using
the subverted Frigate and Resource collectors, you must find out what you can.
Objective 1: Move transports into position.
Find the beacon that highlights the position you need to send the transports to,
then send them there. They won't encounter any problems along the way, so
there's
no need to escort them.
Be sure your research is up to date. You should be able to research Crystal
Processing now, which will enable your Workers to bring in crystals as well as
other resources.
Objective 2: Destroy Proximity Sensor
Send at least two squadrons of ships, preferably ACVs and Hive Frigates, toward
the wall of Proximity Sensors on the Sensor grid. Choose a sensor that is the
maximum distance away from the transports.
There are several enemy vessels in the vicinity of the Proximity Sensors. Engage
them as necessary, focusing on punching through to hit a Proximity Sensor before
taking too much damage.
As soon as you hit a sensor, the transports will begin their run towards the
planet.
Objective 3: Wait for Transports.
Your role now is to serve as cover for the transports until they can reach the
planet surface. Use your resources wisely, and battle the Ion Frigates and their
escorts near the proximity sensors. Evasive tactics will keep your ships alive
longer, but be sure to select targets for them in this mode.
While you battle near the sensors, move the Kuun-Lan toward the transports.
Don't
follow them too close, or you'll draw enemy attention to them. You need to be
nearer to them later in the mission.
Once the transports make it through, you'll be hit with a heavier wave of
Taiidan
Planetary Guard forces. Draw them away from the Kuun-Lan with your other ships
as
it approaches the Proximity Sensors.
Objective 4: Engage Taiidan Planetary Guard
Engage the primary attack wave with several Hive Frigates. Set them to
Aggressive
tactics, and Sphere formation around the approaching fleet.
While your ships deal with the Taiidan, move the Kuun-Lan through the Proximity
Sensors along the same vector the transports took. Be sure you have the Kuun-Lan
surrounded in Sphere formation by Acolytes at minimum, or ACVs. Set them to
guard
the Kuun-Lan as it moves.
Objective 5: Protect the Transports
The Kuun-Lan should be in position to continue approaching the fleeing
transports. If you've done your job with your diversionary force, they should
have little trouble rendezvousing with the Command Ship.
Be sure you protect the transports at all costs - once they dock with the Kuun-
Lan, quick dock and go to Hyperspace to complete the mission.
MISSION 10: DEBRIS FIELD (KORETHS RIFT SECTOR)
Having successfully stolen the Imperial research data, the Kuun-Lan is hiding in
a debris field in the Koreths Rift Sector. Recon has revealed a derelict Siege
Cannon that may suit your purposes. Although this mission begins as a salvage
operation, be on high alert for enemy forces in the area.
Objective 1: Salvage Siege Cannon
Your only goal in this portion of the mission is to salvage the Siege Cannon.
Send your entire fleet toward the beacon. Along the way, build more ships if
needed.
There are Taiidan ships headed for the Siege Cannon as well. You must get there
first and destroy them before they can salvage the Siege Cannon.
The Imperial Fleet is some distance away - if you get the Kuun-Lan close enough
and launch a large Worker force, you should be able to salvage the Siege Cannon.
The floating debris near the Cannon is hiding Imperial ships. Be sure to target
them with your escort ships quickly so the Workers can do their job
Objective 2: Research Siege Cannon
The captured Siege Cannon will allow you to research its technology, but the
Taiidan are not going to sit idly by as you become the most powerful force in
the
sector.
Begin researching the Siege Cannon, but as you do, a Taiidan force will de-cloak
near the Kuun-Lan. Surround it in Sphere formation and repel the attack. Be sure
to use Workers to repair the Kuun-Lan as the enemy Ion Array Frigates attack.
Also research Advanced Ion Cannon and Advanced Sensors as you defend the
Kuun-Lan
against the incoming attack of Taiidan forces.
Once you complete research on the Siege Cannon, begin harvesting more resources
to prepare to build one.
Objective 3: Build Siege Cannon
Once again, the Imperialists will launch a major offensive against the Kuun-Lan.
You must protect her. Place all available ships around her in Sphere formation,
and set them to Neutral tactics so they will hold formation but still repel
attackers.
The Caal-Shto will materialize nearby with an offer of help. However, it's not
the Caal-Shto. The Beast have infected it and are lying in wait for the
approaching pirates.
Once the Taiidan are infected, the Beast Mothership will demand that the
Kuun-Lan
turn over the data gathered from the Imperial base. Rather than do so, the Kuun-
Lan must prepare to fire the newly developed Siege Cannon.
Objective 4: Fire the Siege Cannon
It's show time. You must get the Kuun-Lan within the 100% damage range in order
to attempt to destroy the Mothership. Begin moving it with an escort of
everything you've got in Sphere formation. Neutral tactics will work against the
incoming Turani-turned-Beast fighters.
Watch the Sensor view closely. Once the Beast Mothership is within 100% damage
range (select the Kuun-Lan's special attack and expand the circle of effect to
the Mothership), fire the Siege Cannon.
Be sure to target the beam three-dimensionally to complete this objective.
Unfortunately, the Mothership isn't affected (you didn't think it would be that
easy, did you?). Hyperspace out of there with the new intel you've gained about
the Beast.
MISSION 11: SYSTEM AZ-23769
The Faal-Corum is under Beast attack in the system you arrive in. Unfortunately,
they think that you are part of the attacking force. You must attack the Beast
ships to destroy them and to reassure the Faal-Corum that you are still an ally.
Objective 1: Destroy Beast Ships
The Beast ships are attacking the Faal-Corum. You must intercept them to save
the
Kuun-Lan's sister ship. However, you can't afford to fire upon the Faal-Corum.
From the Sensor manager, select the ships you have available. Hopefully, you
still have some Hive Frigates you can send over. Select them, then set them to
GUARD the Faal-Corum. This way they will attack only enemy ships.
Once the attack is over, the Faal-Corum will order their forces to stand down.
Objective 2: Repair the Faal-Corum
IMPORTANT!
Repairing the Faal-Corum is the catalyst for the Beast fleet's arrival. Do NOT
complete repairs on her before you have scoured the sector for resources. This
not only helps you directly, it also cripples the Beast fleet later in the
mission.
Send your Command Ship and Workers near the Faal-Corum. There's a rich resource
field nearby, so you can Harvest and help repair the damaged ship at the same
time.
Research Destroyer Drive technology and Advanced Ion Cannon when they become
available to gain the ability to build Multi-Beam Frigates and Destroyers.
With the ample resources in the area, you should be able to amass quite a fleet
in short order.
Objective 3: Destroy the enemy Fleet.
Objective 4: Protect the Faal-Corum
If you don't have 5-10 Hive Frigates, build them and place them between the
Faal-
Corum and the Beast Fleet. They should be plenty of firepower to fend off the
attacking vessels while you build up your fleet.
Build a Carrier. This will allow you to take the fight to the Beast without
risking the Kuun-Lan or the Faal-Corum. Make sure the Carrier is highlighted in
the Build Manager, then build your ships from there. You can build Support
modules on the Carrier to further expand your forces.
Build all the Support Modules you can build, because you'll need plenty of ships
to finish off the Beast Fleet.
A large attack force is headed towards your Command ships. Bring your forces in
close to provide a screen for both the Kuun-Lan and Faal-Corum.
Hold your position, and attack the main portion of the Beast fleet only when you
have at least two Destroyers and a Carrier or two. Lead with your Destroyers and
use the Carrier(s) to provide new ships for the battle and repairs to others.
Attack the shields of the BeastCarrier first by destroying the Sentinels
projecting the field, then focus all fire on the vulnerable Carrier once the
shield is down.
Mop up the remaining forces with EMP blasts from your ACVs combined with small
strike forces to clean up any stragglers. Once the Beast ships are gone, your
mission is complete.
MISSION 12: TURANIC OUTPOST (KYORI SECTOR)
Mimic 663 has spotted the Turanic Outpost in the Kyori Sector. The Raiders' star
charts will help the Kuun-Lan locate the beacone they seek, but first, the
Raiders will have to be convinced to help.
Objective 1: Defend Command Ship
Begin by placing the Frigates you have created previously in Wall formation in
front of your Command ship. When the Raiders attack, you should easily be able
to
handle the attacks.
A large force of Ion Array Frigates will attack - watch your Command Ship
support
modules, and repair any that get destroyed.
Once you've fought off the attackers, initiate any needed repairs and get ready
to move out.
Objective 2: Attack Turanic Outpost
Put together a large force of Multi-beam Frigates, Hive Frigates, and ACVs (20
or
so of these) and send them toward the damping field highlighted in your sensor
view.
You'll encounter several groups of enemy fighters; destroy them and keep going.
When you near the Turanic Outpost, target the Battle Carrier exclusively until
it
is destroyed. You'll lose some forces, but not enough to matter.
Keep going and hit the Outpost with everything you've got. An Imperialist fleet
will Hyperspace in, but if you've got the upper hand and are pounding the
Outpost, they will leave shortly - ignore them completely.
The Turanic Outpost will surrender, allowing you to get the data and personnel
you need to complete the mission. Be sure to let all your ships dock before
entering Hyperspace.
MISSION 13: LOCATION UNKOWN
With the Raiders "cooperation" things appear to be well in hand, when suddenly,
explosions break out in Engineering. A sabatuer has been brought aboard, and
severe damage has been inflicted to the Kuun-Lan. Only your Capital ships are
free to engage, as enemy ships begin appearing around the Kuun-Lan, springing a
trap that could prove deadly if repairs aren't completed shortly.
Objective 1: Destroy Enemy Fleet
You've got little time to react, so quickly put all your Capital ships into
Sphere formation around the Kuun-Lan. You can't afford to go chasing enemy
vessels, so keep them on Neutral tactics and wait for the enemy ships to arrive.
Build all the ships your Carriers can construct, focusing on Frigates first.
Hive
Frigates are an excellent defensive choice, so build them if possible.
Make no mistake - you are in serious trouble here. Several enemy Heavy Cruisers
are inbound from different vectors, so stay in Sphere formation.
Use your Hive Frigate drones to target each enemy Capital ship in turn. The
Kuun-
Lan will sustain serious damage during this attack, but it should survive if
you've been diligent about producing Hive Frigates and other Frigates for
defense.
Repel the first wave of attackers, and your construction facilities will come
back online.Rebuild everything that was damaged (harvesting all those resources
two missions ago really pays off here). Be sure you've deployed all the forces
you can deploy - you'll need them.
Objective 2: Support the Faal-Corum
The Faal-Corum will arrive shortly after you repel the first wave of attackers.
She brings reinforcements, and puts several of her ships under your command. The
Kuun-Lan should be relatively safe - leave the allied ships near the Faal-Corum
and assist in her defense. However, the Kuun-Lan is still the enemy target so
keep her protected.
An enemy Carrier will appear at the edge of your Sensor range. Send 10-15 Hive
Frigates after it. Your Command ship is on a plane above the Carrier; use an
attack from above with Hive Drones to annihilate the enemy Carrier, then mop up
the enemy fighters and Resourcers in the area.
The Faal-Corum's ships are chasing an enemy Missile Destroyer. Follow them and
lend a hand to complete the mission.
MISSION 14: GALACTIC RIM (GULF SECTOR)
The Taidani have allied themselves with the Beast, and are repairing the drives
on the Naggarok. You must stop them at all costs, or the Beast will conquer the
galaxy with little resistance.
Objective 1: Protect Command Ship
Immediately, place all your ships in Sphere formation around the Kuun-Lan. The
Imperials will be arriving soon, so get ready to welcome them.
Build a Mimic and cloak it as an Imperial
Hold your position, and defend against incoming attackers.
The Beast Mothership will arrive in the sector - things are going to get ugly
fast here, so keep replacing any ships you lose.
Objective 2: Get Sample
IMPORTANT!
You should be able to build a Dreadnought now if you've researched as indicated.
This powerful ship is crucial to your success from here on out, but it takes
some
time to build as well as serious resources. Avoid putting all your efforts into
creating one until at least the end of this mission (if even then), or you'll
drain valuable resources your other ships need.
Your next objective is to construct a Mimic so that it can dock with the
Naggarok
and get a sample of the Beast. You may be over your support unit limit, since
picking up those ships from the Faal-Corum added significant support
requirements. If so, you need to decommission some ships to be able to create a
Mimic.
Send a wave of ACVs toward the beacon. When you reach the ring of proximity
sensors surrounding the Nagarrok, focus your ACV fire on each of them in turn,
destroying the entire ring.
With the sensors down, your Mimic can slip in and get the job done.
Objective 3: Salvage a Taiidani Ship
Once the Mimic has returned, the Naggarok and the Mothership will leave the
sector. Don't think this mission is over - the Imperials are still out there and
an attack wave is headed in your direction.
To get the information regarding the weapon the Naggarok mentions, you need to
salvage a Taidani vessel. Plenty of them are on the way - you just have to
survive long enough to grab one of them.
Get rid of the enemy Destroyers as they approach, then prepare some Workers and
target one of the other enemy Frigates for salvage. Once the ship is in your
possession, the objective is complete.
Before leaving this sector, harvest all the resources you can and prepare for
the
next mission by re-building your Frigate force, as well as your repair teams.
MISSION 15: DEEP SPACE (GULF SECTOR)
It would appear that the Bentusi would at least discuss the destruction of the
Beast with you, but unfortunately, they are not in a cooperative mood. You will
have to force their hand and gain their help whether they like it or not.
Objective 1: Destroy Slipgate Nodes
Objective 2: Block Slipgate Entrance
You must keep the Bentusi from leaving the area. The only way to do this is to
close the Slipgate Nodes and then block the Slipgate entrance. As you would
expect, the Bentusi are not likely to appreciate you stopping their escape.
The first part of this mission is straightforward - head for the Slipgate and
destroy the nodes to collapse the Slipgate. Now park the Kuun-Lan in front of
the
Slipgate to keep the Bentusi from leaving.
IMPORTANT!
The new research that will be available to you in this mission is crucial:
Upgrade your ships' armor and force field levels as soon as you can. The drive
research will help later - focus on the defensive research for now.
The Bentusi Ion beam weapons will shred your defenses if you don't upgrade, so
keep those research topics active. Fortunately, the Super Acolytes they send
your
way are just as fragile as ordinary Acolytes - your Multibeam Frigates should
make quick work of them, so station a wall formation of them between you and the
attacking Bentusi.
In the middle of the battle, the Bentusi will decide to assist in
repairing/refitting your Siege Cannon and the fighting will stop.
Harvest resources, and build up for the next mission. You will need at least one
Dreadnought, several Destroyers, and as many Frigates as you can create. It's
time to take the battle to the Beast.
MISSION 16: SOJENT-RA SYSTEM (FAR REACHES SECTOR)
This is it - you finally get to go after the Beast and repay them for all the
atrocities you've witness so far. In this mission, you'll meet the infected
Clee-
San and the Beast Command Ship for the final time, one way or another.
Objective 1: Locate the Clee-San
Your old friend the Clee-San is back, and it has plenty of new friends with it.
Your first order of business is to find it. Send out Mimics (disguised as
asteroids) toward bearing 300. You should be able to spot the Clee-San and its
massive escort; leave the Mimics in place so you can keep tabs on the Beast
fleet.
If you don't find the Clee-San quickly, an attack wave is triggered as they will
find you first. Either way, you'll have to face these forces.
Objective 2: Cripple the Clee-San
Move your fleet towards the Clee-San's position. Keep several wall formations in
front of your Command Ship--Multibeam Frigates, Hive Frigates and your
Destroyer/Dreadnought should lead.
When you see Beast Heavy Cruisers, get your Multibeam Frigates and Hive
Frigates
out of the way and let your Dreadnought and Destroyers take over--Frigates are
easily infected by the Infection Beam that Heavy Cruisers fire.
When you are within 50% range of your Siege Cannon, fire a shot at the
Clee-San.
Be sure that you aim properly, and you will cripple the ship and vaporize all
the
ships in the nearby area.
Objective 3: Dock a Worker with the Clee-San
Before sending in a Worker to send the fake distress call from the Clee-San,
send
in your Destoryers and Dreadnought to take care of the enemy Carrier first. If
you don't, you'll have to keep fighting additional enemy ships.
Send the Worker to the Clee-San to complete this objective.
Objective 4: Harvest resources
This objective is really just a trigger. When you begin Harvesting resources,
the
Beast fleet will arrive.
Objective 5: Destroy the Beast Command Ship
Destroy incoming enemy Cruise Missiles first - you must keep your ships from
becoming infected at all costs. Multibeam Frigates should be part of an initial
Wall formation to take care of these deadly pests.
Remember to use only Destroyers and your Dreadnought against enemy Heavy
Cruisers, or you'll be fighting your own converted ships as well as the Beast's.
Move the Kuun-Lan toward the Beast Command ship (your former lower deck) and
keep
fighting the incoming waves of attackers.
When you are within at least 60% ranges of your Siege Cannon, open fire on the
Beast Commad ship. It will take three shots at 100%, but you can soften it up by
firing before you get that close. Don't get too close - any closer than 50km and
you risk being demolished by your own shots.
Once the Beast Command Ship is history, rebuild your fleet for the final assualt
on the Naggarok. Add some Leeches - they will perform a crucial function in the
last mission.
MISSION 17: REPUBLICAN NAVAL BASE ALPHA (FAR REACHES SECTOR)
This is it - the final battle. Every mission has prepared you for this ultimate
challenge. Expect to face overwhelming odds as well as the subverted Republic
weapon (the Nomad Moon) and the Naggarok itself.
Objective 1: Locate the Naggarok
Two massive battles are raging in this sector as the mission begins. You have to
put some distance between yourself and the nearest battle without becoming
involved in it.
Head for the large resource field located toward Bearing 155. Don't completely
abandon the besieged Republican forces in the nearest battle - send some Workers
over as well as a token force of ACVs to keep them alive long enough for you to
escape.
Once you are a safe distance away, and you have your ships ready to engage the
enemy, fire a blast from your Siege Cannon at 100% range to decimate the battle
your Workers are maintaining.
It's a good idea to keep a ring of Recons travelling with you at a distance as
you move - there are some nasty surprises out there. Keep them searching,
especially near the large crystal field you're headed toward.
The Naggarok is not far from the resource field, but it's guarding the massive
Nomad Moon.
Objective 2: Destroy the Nomad Moon
The Nomad Moon was the Republic's secret weapon. In Beast hands, the damage it
will do is immeasurable. Your mission objective to destroy the Naggarok still
stands, but this is more important for now.
The Nomad Moon has two repulse emitters that you must destroy first. They will
deflect even a Siege Cannon shot, so you will need to send in some Leeches (the
more, the better) to weaken and destroy them.
To do this, you need to sacrifice a wave or two of fighters to destroy all the
proximity sensors around the Nomad Moon first. When you get this done, send in
the Leeches to do their work (remember to target both Repulse Emitters).
While the fighters and Leeches do their jobs, recon until you locate several
enemy Carriers and their escorts (roughly between the resource area and the
Nomad
Moon).Watch for appearing enemy ships to pinpoint their location. Destroy these
ships with Siege Cannon shots and the mission will get much easier for awhile.
Close with the Nomad Moon and fire a Siege Cannon blast to finish it off. If
this
doesn't do it, bring a group of Destroyers/Dreadnought and destroy the Nomad
Moon
this way. Do not attack the Naggarok - it will leave you alone, even though
you're destroying the Nomad Moon.
When the Beast and Imperial fleets appear, head for the large crystal field you
discovered earlier. Once the Beast fleet is inside the field, detonate the
nearest crystal with some fighters. The explosion will destroy the Beast fleet.
Obective 3: Disable and Destroy the Naggarok
After the Nomad Moon is gone, the Bentusi will appear and give you their
technology to create Super Acolytes. Stop all other production, and build as
many
of these jewels as you can. They are all you need from here on in.
Research the Naggarok's Inertialess Drive as soon as possible, and open fire on
it as best you can. Keep your ships on the move to avoid the Naggarok's attacks
until your research is done.
The Imperials will suddenly start battling the Beast, so this will help draw
some
attention away from your forces.
Once the research is complete, you'll learn that EMP busts are the only way to
disable the Intertialess Drive of the Naggarok.
Fire consecutive EMP bursts from your ACVs to disable the Naggarok, then fire on
it with Super Acolytes while it spins out of control. Keep this up - it may
take
several of these attacks to do the job.
Ignore the huge Beast fleet that appears - if you can manage to destroy the
Naggarok before they reach you, the mission will be complete and the game is
over!
If they are spotted by Imperials, you're mission will be much
harder. If you must let them find resources, keep a close ey on them and don't
let them wander off.
Ignore the huge Beast fleet that appears - if you can manage to destroy the
Naggarok before they reach you, the mission will be complete and the game is
over!
