This MM4 game can be combined with Darkside of Xeen. However, it can also be
played as a stand alone game. If you are just starting out, you may want to
replace the Paladin character with another Ranger (human). This will give you
2 Lloyd's Beacons (a very useful spell). Also, since a Ranger already has the
Pathfinding skill, two will enable you to go through forests with having to
spend 2,500 gold to buy the skill. There are two useful magic mirror words
that will help you when just starting out. However, make sure you have enough
gold so that you can buy the Town Portal spell (so you can return to Vertigo).
The Cleric needs to have 30 spell points to cast this spell. Level 4 or 5
should do the trick. The first word is Shangri-la. It will transport you to a
hidden city. You can buy all spells there. All skills are also available for
100,000. Unless you hex for gold, you will not have enough to buy the skills.
There is also a smith, temple, and inn there. The fountain will give you a
free level increase. The second word is Count du Money. This will take you to
a room in the Dragon Cavern. You MUST have a Lloyd's beacon set to Vertigo or
other safe place or the town portal spell. Otherwise, you will have to fight
your way out. This is a tough place. In the room, there is about 50,000 gold
and 1,000 gems. If your intellect is greater than 25, there is also 50,000 Exp
Points.
