Mission 01: Northeast Division, Warrant Service
OBJECTIVES
Arrest Martin Brenner
Locate all weapons (1)
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
Wife must be secured.
INTRODUCTION
The first mission of SWAT3 is not a complicated mission by any stretch of the
imagination (provided you know a few minor game operation details). The first
mission is a warrant service, in which you have been ordered to arrest a suspect
in some recent freeway shootings. The suspect is Martin Brenner, and he also
has
a wife who you'll need to subdue first. The building is relatively small, and
has three floors. The first floor consists of a kitchen and a living area. The
stairs lead up to a second living area with a bedroom and a bathroom. The final
floor is the attic, where you're most likely to find Mr. Brenner. Fortunately,
Mr. Brenner is fairly easy to subdue and only rarely will fire his rifle on you.
ACTIVE DUTY
When you begin this mission, simply pick the lock while staying in stealth mode;
remaining in stealth is a good way of practicing for later missions. Once you
pick the lock, check the top of the stairs (to your left) and the hallway, while
sending your element through to clear. You should encounter the wife on the
first floor or second floor. You or your team can quickly yell a few
compliances, and she will submit to being handcuff. Do so, and report her in.
Next, turn your attention to the stairs. Send your element up the stairs, as
you
follow. You might occasionally hear your sniper support ("high ground") saying
that the suspect just passed an attic window, but push forward. Brenner can be
found nearly anywhere in the house (e.g.; under the stairs on the first floor,
in
the closet or his room on the second floor, or in the attic). He's usually
going
to be found in the upper two floors. Your team members will most likely get him
to submit with a few compliance orders. Handcuff him, and report him in. The
sniper rifle will almost certainly be near his body, and if not, the gun is
usually located in the attic, near a window facing the freeway. When you move
over the gun, use the action key (same as the one used to open doors) to collect
the gun.
Mission 02: Hollywood Division, Warrant Service
OBJECTIVES
Arrest Victor Getts
Remove Albert Getts
Locate all weapons (3)
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
None
INTRODUCTION
This mission involves a warrant against a more violent felon (technically, he's
a
barricaded suspect). While the previous mission's suspect would probably not at
all fire against you, Victor Getts will most likely pull his gun on you. Be
prepared. While 10-Adam warns you about bombs, you won't have to deal with them
in - unless you try to breach Victor's office. The house is a single level
family dwelling. It contains a living room, a kitchen, a garage, the son's
bedroom, a laundry room, 2 bathrooms, Victor's bedroom, Victor's office, and
the "secret" basement hideout. It's relatively small, so it shouldn't take too
long to find the suspects.
ACTIVE DUTY
Breach the building from either door, it doesn't matter as it will lead you to
the same living room. In most cases, neither the father or the son will be in
this room. The son tends to be in the back of the house, near his bedroom (down
the hallway, last door, straight ahead). Victor Getts tends to be hiding out
and
about his garage or secret hiding space. Stay in stealth mode as long as
possible to get the jump on these two; remember, they will fire upon you unless
you're extremely forceful. In most cases, they will submit to arrest if you
fire
off a couple of rounds and yell at them for compliance. Once they've been
arrested, look for the three guns. These are always in the same locations.
There's an Uzi on the glass living room table (the first room you enter into).
Secondly, there's a gun in the secret basement area on a shelf. Finally, the
last weapon is also a handgun in the possession of the son. You can pick these
up by pressing your open door key (your cursor will go into highlight mode).
One
last note. Across from the living room is a door with an explosive attached to
it. If you open the door without first disabling the bomb, you run the risk of
being injured or even killed. While there's no real reason to enter the room,
you can do so by simply using the Leatherman to disable the bomb (has red/green
lights).
Mission 03: Newman, Hostage Rescue
OBJECTIVES
Rescue the Turkish Ambassador, Jemil Kamal.
Arrest suspect Lokman Damar.
Bring order to chaos (arrest suspects).
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
Arrest/Neutralize 4 other suspects.
INTRODUCTION
The demo mission (which many players may have played) is perhaps your first
really gung-ho mission. The suspects in this mission are pretty violent, and
they
may not want to subdue to your attack on their house. And for good reason, too.
They're holding the Ambassador of Turkey, and they just blew up the Embassy.
Pretty nasty stuff, and there's at least five different suspects to contain. One
thing nice about this level is that it's very easy to find your way through the
level. Enter through the main shop, go through another set of doors, and then
into the back where a flight of stairs leads you to the basement, where the
hostage is being held. Although I do recommend using the M4 in this mission, an
MP5 is still an excellent weapon to use. Finally, you'll probably find yourself
sticking with the dynamic mode of entry in most cases, as the store owner (who
you usually encounter first) likes to fire off a couple of rounds before you
enter the building. Even if that doesn't happen, there's not too much to be
gained with a surprise breach.
ACTIVE DUTY
Going through the front door isn't the most stealthy of entrances, so be
prepared
for a firefight. Sometimes your men will be able to order compliance and get
it,
but other times you'll need to fire a few warning shots into the building.
Whatever happens, get in the door as fast as you can. Sometimes there's more
than one suspect in the front room. Make sure you get their attention and put
them down if need be. Once they're secure (and called in), turn your attention
to the door (as in picture 1). Breach and clear the next room. You'll again
see
a door leading to the back. Go through it, and clear both sides. The left side
is just a small bathroom (yuck!), but the right side leads to a door to yet
another room. Finally, you'll have found the stairs leading to the basement.
You'll probably want to pickup the pace just a bit, but watch out as you open
the
door to the stairs. I prefer to let my teammates lead the charge downstairs,
just because they're better shots in situations like this. Once you're all
downstairs, you'll want to round the corner to the right, and start looking for
the remaining suspects and the hostage. In this next hallway, there'll be an
opening to your right; make sure you slice it (or send your teammates in to do
the dirty work), and watch out for the baddies. They like to hide here. If you
make that right turn, you'll come to a small opening with a video camera. On
the
right, there'll be a door: that door leads to the holding cell of the hostage,
but he's not always in that room. Clear it nonetheless. Once you've completely
swept the basement and you've reported in all the suspects and the hostages, you
should win the mission.
Mission 04: West LA, Hostage Rescue
OBJECTIVES
Rescue Donald, Linda, Emily, and Jacob Foreman.
Bring Order to Chaos (arrest/neutralize 6 suspects).
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
1 extra suspect.
INTRODUCTION
This is your first really bloody battle, and you can start losing men very
quickly in this mission. Be warned that the suspects in this mission are
extremely violent, and they will most likely pull the trigger when they see you.
Be prepared and pack your M4s for maximum effectiveness. I recommend taking the
back yard entrance, as the team AI usually does a good job of making it around
that corner - at least better than using the front entrance. The house is
fairly
large, and be prepared to search this house thoroughly to locate all hostages.
ACTIVE DUTY
Beginning from the rear entrance, let your AI teams engage the enemy (this
happens 75% of the time). By the time you can get your act together, they will
probably have engaged the enemy. Cross your fingers and hope that you don't
lose
anyone right away. In most cases, that first target will appear around the
swimming pool. Make sure he's been taken care of before you move on. Send your
team up to the second level, on the pool deck to breach the patio doors.
Meanwhile, jog downstairs to the apartment of the house keeper, and glance in
the
windows of the basement. Next, you may want to clear that bottom floor, but
watch out as you open the basement door. Once you've cleared the basement, head
back to the 2nd floor to meet up with your team. By this time, they probably
will have found another one or two terrorists running about. If the doors to
the
main living area haven't been opened yet, do so with a command to breach and
clear. Be careful here, you may want to let your teammates lead the charge.
The
majority of the suspects will be hiding about in this room, or they will be out
on the front lawn. Note that they have a clear view into the house, so make
sure
you glance outside. Clear this room, and then head outside to make sure
everyone's accounted for. Clear the bathroom, the work study, and then the
garage before proceeding up the stairs. Don't forget about the kitchen and its
rooms, either. In most cases, if you can clear the main living area, then
you've
done just about everything. Move up the stairs, and clear all the rooms looking
for hostages and whoever else may be wandering about. Note that you don't have
to handcuff the kids. Just call them in. Make sure you rescue all four
hostages. Wait for 10 David to call in, and let 'em hang.
Mission 05: West LA, Hostage Rescue
OBJECTIVES
Rescue His Holiness
Rescue 1 ArchBishop
Rescue 2 Bishops
Rescue 2 Monks
Rescue 1 Father
Remove Nick Coleman
Remove Sugar Stevens
Remove Chaz Green
Remove Terry Sole
Bring Order to Chaos (5 suspects)
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
1 additional suspect
INTRODUCTION
Looking over this objective list should be more than enough information for you.
There are a LOT of people to deal with in this mission, so make sure you keep
track of the number of clergy members you have rescued. For the most part, they
will be in the upper portion of the Church, although some may be in the area of
worship. Pack for the MP5 for this mission, as you may want to switch between
JHP and FMJ. The Church is quite large, but fortunately there is really only
one
path; you can either take it backwards or forwards. Make sure to check the
walls
for secret doorways; there are three of them in this mission. Finally, to keep
things organized and under control, report in each subject as you come across
them. I've found myself utterly confused at the end of the mission many times
simply because I forgot to handcuff and report in all the hostages I had saved.
ACTIVE DUTY
When you start off in the garden, be wary of random gunmen wandering about.
There are around sometimes, and you'll need to be fairly aggressive with these
guys. They aren't as bad as the previous suspects, but you'll probably end up
neutralizing them nonetheless. Also, take note that the security force you are
supposed to detain will almost always be trying to guard the clergy. They are
most likely going to fire on anything near their subjects, and that may include
you. They can be quite cooperative, however, if you stop any nearby terrorists
or if you are aggressive with your compliance orders. Although you can shoot
them, it's not necessary for success. I recommend moving up the stairwell that
you first encounter as you leave the garden. Keep your eye on the top of the
stairs as you proceed up, and then engage anyone in the hallway/balcony. Once
you reach the end of the balcony, breach the doorway. Often times, you will
find
one of the security forces lingering about here. Be aggressive with your
compliance orders, and he will succumb. Order your team to clear the main floor
of this room, and have them proceed through the double doors. Meanwhile, make
it
your job to head up the stairs in the room, to the bedroom. Here you should
find
at least one or two clergy, and possibly a suspect. Use the Opti-Wand to check
for bad guys. Make sure you clear the bathroom, as well. Catch up to your
buddies, and aid them in handcuffing any hostages or suspects they encounter.
Make sure you check every single door in this area, as the hostages and suspects
like to hide in the tiniest of rooms. Once you have cleared that floor, there
is
a secret hidden door in the office. It is located to the left of the double
doors. Open it to reveal a darkly lit stairwell descending to the bottom. Send
your team down it while ordering compliance. Odds are, someone will surprise
you
as you move down the stairs. Once you get to the foot of the stairs, there will
be yet another door; open it, but be prepared for anything. Again, the problem
with this mission is its unpredictability. On some run-throughs, there will be
tons of suspects in the upper portions of the Church. On other times, the hall
will be filled with terrorists. Once you have come out of the stairwell, there
should be another door. Since you're stepping out into an open area, you may
wish to have your team follow you out into the open. Be wary, however, as there
are likely to be a lot of suspects and hostages mingling about. Completely
clear
and check every corner of the main hall before you try any of the doors. If you
turn your attention to the altar area, there should be two more doors to open;
one of them is a concealed entrance located directly behind the central podium.
To the left is a wooden door, and the secret door is in the middle. Be sure to
aggressively breach both, as the terrorists love to hide in those tight spaces.
Once you clear those rooms, then you should have completed the mission. If not,
run through the level once more to check to make sure you have reported in every
single hostage or suspect, and then check for any remaining closets. One
technique I like to do is to leave the doors of the rooms I have checked wide
open.
Mission 06: Pacific Division, Recon Operation
OBJECTIVES
Bring order to chaos (9 suspects).
Disable all anti-aircraft weapons (3 SAMs).
Prevent the destruction of aircraft.
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
None
INTRODUCTION
On this mission, you have been tasked to investigate some mysterious lights that
came from the Hyperion Treatment Construction site, relating to the shoot down
of
a jet liner over the Pacific (nasty stuff, if you ask me). This mission is
fairly dark, and when you first go in, you won't be sure what to look for - you
may wish to turn up your brightness. Pack some heavy guns for this mission, as
you never know what you're going to run into. I taking a look at the mission
map
for a bit, as well as the map that I've included here. At first you won't be
able to get your bearings straight, but then it will come to you. I recommend
using the front entrance (side 1, level 1).
ACTIVE DUTY
Breaching from the front entrance, pick the lock and enter the base. Do this
slowly, and check the various angles. While your team does a good job, they
tend
to get surprised a bit too easily. If you're not comfortable strafing quickly,
then use the Opti-Wand to verify corners. I recommend heading straight until
you
reach a doorway. Let your team breach this room first, as they will likely spot
the terrorist operating this first SAM immediately. Follow them quickly into
the
room, and neutralize this baddie. Now, turn your attention to the SAM.
Approach
it, and take out your Leatherman (F7). Using the tool, you can disable it by
hitting your action key. One down, two to go. Proceed up the ramp out the
other
entrance. You may wish to let your teammates go first, so that they can
thoroughly check all angles. Turn to the right, and proceed. Follow the
outside
of the map, until you come to an opening to your right. You'll have gone too
far
if you run into green port-o potties. Assign your team to check the building to
your right, while you either proceed with them, or move towards the fenced in
area (note that there is a small building with doors to your left, you may need
to return to this position). The fenced area contains another SAM, so it should
be your priority. Call for compliance, and rush the ramp leading into the dirt
pit with pipes. There may be a couple of terrorists hiding here, so be
prepared. You'll need to run through a trench under a pipe to get to the SAM.
Once you get to the SAM, repeat the process with the Leatherman. Once you've
cleared the pit, call for your teammates to catch up with you. To your left you
should notice two pipes, one raised a bit higher than the other. If you go
around the first pipe, you will find a small ramp you can go up, and then into a
pipe. Go into the pipe, and at its exit, you will find another pit, with more
guards, and the final SAM. Subdue or neutralize the guard(s) and disable the
SAM. Head up the ramp, and check both sides. Head to the right, and proceed
through the outer area until all the remaining guards are cleared. If you have
missed one of the nine suspects, walk around looking for a small building you
can
enter and search.
Mission 07: West LA, Hostage Rescue
OBJECTIVES
Rescue downed officer, Eric Kronberg.
Rescue Marie Bonds.
Rescue Julie King.
Rescue Gwen Davis.
Bring order to chaos.
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
Rescue 2 civilians/hostages.
Arrest/neutralize 1 suspect.
INTRODUCTION
This bank heist gone bad is a classic example of how the real-world SWAT element
is used. While this hold up somehow still has something to do with Sovereign
American (a terrorist group you'll see later), this mission is still a great
realistic scenario. The bank is made up of two floors; the attic, which you'll
need to sneak through, and the main floor, where the hostages are being held.
You'll want to remain silenced as long as possible in this mission, so pack the
SD and stay in stealth mode as long as possible. The terrorists aren't the most
aggressive to date, but be prepared for some tight CQB action.
ACTIVE DUTY
Making it out of the attic to the 1st floor can be a bit tedious at first.
Essentially you have four options as to doors you can breach, but fortunately
your AI counterparts will lead you to the right one immediately. That door is
C. Pick it, and head down the stairs. The path to your left will be blocked,
so
turn to the right and head that way. You should proceed about 30 feet before
coming a junction. Turn left here, and then about five feet from that turn,
take
another left turn. As long as you see an air vent in front of you, you are in
the right direction. Proceed down the path. It may seem that the path has come
to a dead end; get closer and you'll see that in fact there's an opening around
a
corner, which then proceeds to the right. From there, it's just a straight shot
to the attic door leading to the 1st floor. Note that sometimes terrorists will
patrol this area: be prepared for guards.
Click here to see the step-by-step walkthrough of how to navigate the top floor
of the bank.
Once you have successfully made it off the rooftop, the above map comes in more
and more handy. You'll start at the northern-most end of the map, coming
downstairs into a small storage room. At most, you'll encounter a hostage here.
Prepare to go into the hallway by first checking the corners with the opti-wand
and then sending your team out. Quickly follow and make a complete circle to
eye
up both hallways. Enter the long hallway, and start breaching rooms (you'll
have
the view shown here). From here, I recommend that you first breach the room to
your left (which has two possible entrances). The rooms to the right are a
bathroom and then two different offices. Both usually contain at least one
baddie, along with a few more hostages. Once you've cleared those offices,
you're ready to enter into first the teller room and then the lobby. The teller
lobby is interesting because the glass on the teller window is actually bullet-
proof. Keep that in mind, and try to shoot beneath the glass (granted, it's a
TOUGH shot). You should encounter a few more baddies in this room and the lobby
(where the downed detective is located). Don't worry about the safe for now,
just clear the lobby and report in the detective. Now you can turn your
attention to the safe and the final remaining room. These should be fairly
simple: just have your men charge in and clear the rooms, after you've lobbed in
some tear gas grenades. The best technique for opening the safe door is
actually
to blow the safe door with a breaching charge.
Mission 08: Wilshire District, Rescue Hostages
OBJECTIVES
Rescue Mayor FitzPatrick
Rescue Herman Moyer
Rescue TV station manager, Thomas Columbato
Rescue talk show host (Donna Briggs)
Rescue 3 Studio employees
Rescue 5 audience members
Bring order to chaos (8 suspects).
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
Rescue two hostages.
Arrest/neutralize one suspect.
INTRODUCTION
In a classic terrorist move, members of the PLP have attacked the TV Studios of
a
talk show, taken hostages (including the Mayor), and ordered the TV station to
play their demands on air. The TV station is filled with both terrorists and
hostages. The problem is that the level has a lot of open spaces, and many of
the terrorists are dressed like civilians. Don't bother being stealthy, yell
plenty of compliance orders frequently, and watch yourself when you enter into
open areas. There are two floors to this mission, and I recommend taking the
loading dock entrance. Essentially, you'll need to clear a backstage area, some
dressing areas, the upstairs control rooms, and two TV stages. Make sure you
keep tight control over your team.
ACTIVE DUTY
Wait for 10-David to authorize your breach (should be close to immediate), and
then instruct your team to breach the door (in dynamic mode). You should
immediately encounter both suspects and hostages. Start yelling compliance
orders (you'll need to do this a lot), and move in through the door. Check up
the stairs, but don't worry about those yet. Your team can do that. To your
right, glance down the hallways, past the makeup rooms. There should be both
suspects and hostages in this area. If you've already yelled for compliance,
then the hostages will have complied. The terrorists are pretty aggressive, so
fire if you see a gun. Keep this section monitored and in check with a tear gas
canister. After lobbing the tear gas canister, check the hallway directly
adjacent, and then issue an order for your teammates to go up the stairs, and
clear the control room area. Meanwhile, you can go and arrest/report in the
individuals not already shot up. Note that the entrance to the studio stage is
on the far left-hand side of the hallway. Be sure to lob plenty of gas
canisters
that way, sometimes the terrorists will wander back out. Don't breach this area
yet. Check to the right of the hallway to make sure no terrorists are wandering
about their, either. Now head back and check on the status of your team. They
should have already found a few hostages and probably some terrorists as well.
Clear the remaining dressing room, as well as the storage room in the back.
Once
everyone has been reported in, head back down the stairs. Now is the time to
clear the studio stage. This can be messy, so I suggest that you lead the
charge. Start by issuing lots of compliance orders, and lobbing in either tear
gas and/or flashbangs. Once you are ready, breach the room, aiming for the
stage. There should be at least a couple of terrorists in the area; make sure
your teammates are in tow when you go through the entrance. Shoot to kill here,
since you've already issued compliance orders, and they are way too close to
suspects, they need to be eliminated. Once they are mopped up, arrest and
report
in all the hostages. Turnaround, and exit the stage. Clear the first floor
dressing rooms, if you haven't already, and then head out the door to the far
left of these dressing rooms, labeled "Exit." There are a few more bad guys in
this area. On both sides of you are two different sound stages. Breach the one
on the left first, while tossing a tear gas canister into the right sound stage.
Clear the left area, then the right. Mission accomplished!
Mission 09: Hollywood Division, Warrant Service
OBJECTIVES
Arrest Ric "Dog" Peters.
Arrest Jon T. Elliot.
Arrest Brad Kritzer.
Arrest Brit Houger.
Locate and secure all weapons (10).
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
Evacuate one civilian.
INTRODUCTION
The primary suspect in this warrant service (Ric Peters) is also suspected of
contracting out some of the earlier operations, including as mansion/ransom and
the Church mission. The operation itself is being funded by a major military
leader, all in an effort to get the nuke devices. There are four total
suspects,
all employees of the Phoenix Club, which you are breaching. I recommend using
the back door entrance, as the front door entrance has two openings to deal
with,
making it that much harder to breach properly. From the back door entrance,
there is a living quarters, a bedroom, and a bath. A door leads to storage
room,
which is connected to the primary club floor. You'll need to clear two bars, a
dance floor, a DJ booth, and two bathrooms. Note that these suspects are fairly
aggressive, but a few of them can be arrested. Finally, when you're clearing
the
building, make sure you pick up all the weapons laying around. There's quite a
few of them.
ACTIVE DUTY
Stay in stealth mode as long as possible; the many of the terrorists will comply
if they are caught by surprise. Order your teammates to stack up, pick the
lock,
and then clear the first room. Follow in behind them, and first check the
right-
side, where there will be a bedroom and bathroom. Make sure you watch your back
while you clear the bedroom. Note that there are two guns in the kitchen and
then one in the bedroom. After clearing the bathroom, turn around and head to
the living room. The living room also has one weapon in it. If you haven't yet
made contact, move through the doorway into the storage room. Keep your men
moving, and send them through the next door, which leads into the public club
area. Behind the door in the storage room is another gun. Clear the dance
floor
completely before picking up any guns; note that this is one big, open area, so
keep your men moving, and let them lead. Clear both bars, and the DJ loft.
Your
final stop should be the bathrooms. Clear those, and collect whatever weapons
are on the suspects' persons. There are two weapons located around the far bar.
Odds are, at least 1/2 of the suspects in this mission will not go quietly.
Remember to issue lots of compliance orders once contact is made.
Mission 10: Wilshire District, Hostage Rescue
OBJECTIVES
Rescue Russian President Igor Stamos.
Rescue Eduard Galeev.
Rescue and evacuate an unknown number of terrorists.
Bring order to chaos (21).
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
Unknown suspects: 5
Unknown hostages rescued: 5
INTRODUCTION
The PLP has struck again, this time taking the visiting Russian President
hostage. This is a fairly tricky mission to complete, simply because there are
so many terrorists wandering about. The President is being held on the top
floor, in the guest suite. He and several of his entourage are being held
hostage by a dozen terrorists (on the top floor alone), and you'll want to
breach
the building from the roof top. You'll want to take the rooftop entrance
because
clearing the stairs going down is tremendously easier than going up the stairs.
High ground will provide sniper support, but once again he'll be of little use
to
you. Because of the sheer number of hostages and terrorists, it will be
difficult to maintain control over your teammates. Give them lots to do and
keep
yourself busy with taking down the terrorists. Most of them are very
aggressive,
so shoot to kill.
ACTIVE DUTY
Always start from the rooftop in stealth mode. They terrorists love to wander
in
this mission, so you'll want to stay quiet for as long as possible. Unlock the
rooftop door and proceed to the next door. Have your team open the door and
clear it for suspects. Watch out for the suspect that likes to hide in the
elevator to the left of the door. Next, you'll note two doors. Don't bother
with the door on the right for now, that leads downstairs. Just keep your eye
on
it. Tell your boys to open up the other door, and enter the hallway. Here is
where you will most likely encounter the first resistance. Whatever you do,
keep
your men moving down to the end of the hall, to the door all the way at the end.
Despite whoever may pop out of the doors along the hallway, keep them moving.
Make sure you shut the doors if they are opened (trust me, this helps). Send
your team outside onto the balcony, and tell them to breach and clear the
doorway
into the suite. Meanwhile, you should check the hallway to make sure no one is
wandering about. You may even want to lob a tear gas canister to control anyone
who wanders about. Catch up with your men, and help them clear the first room
in
the suite. Note that there will no be a number of different hostages and
terrorists wandering about. Quickly restrain them, but first eliminate the
threats. If the big double doors haven't been opened yet in the first room, do
so, but with caution. All the terrorists love to stick their head around the
corners and pick you off. Make sure you take the lead. Shoot to kill here, as
your men seem to have problems with these types of situations. Before you get
too far down the hallway, go back into the first bedroom, and head into the
bathroom (the door located to the left of the mirror). There's usually a few
baddies in here, too. Once you've cleared that and the hallway adjacent to it,
you can proceed down the long hallway to the living room area where the
President
is most likely being held. Don't forget to clear the kitchen and dining room
areas on your left, along your way. As you come to the living room area, make
sure you have eliminated all the opposition. Sometimes a bad guy will be out on
the balcony, so shoot him through the French doors. Once you've cleared,
detained, and reported-in everyone, check to make sure you haven't missed
anything or anyone. Note that there is a small door in the living room area
that
leads into a bathroom. Clear that, and then proceed back towards the outer
hallway and the stairs that you didn't go down.
Odds are, someone has already opened the door to the stairs, so be wary for
wandering terrorists. Once you come into sight of the stairs, lob a few tear
gas
canisters down there, and then breach it. Make sure you take the lead here, and
shoot! There are a lot of terrorists going down these stairs. The method for
clearing these stairs goes as follows: shoot anyone wandering about, lob a tear
gas canister down the stairs, and move. Repeat until you arrive at the bottom.
On the bottom floor, just clear out all the rooms you come to. Make sure you
exercise caution in the laundry room, bathrooms, and kitchen. There are a
couple
of hostages and quite a few terrorists wandering around. Finally, note that
there is one hostage that looks a lot like a terrorist. He's dressed in green,
and will usually be in the laundry room area. Make sure you call for compliance
as much as possible to figure out who the hostage is. Obviously, he won't be
carrying a gun. There have been a number of occasions where I have shot him by
accident.
Mission 11: Central District, VIP Detail
OBJECTIVES
Protect the life of Igor Stamos.
Protect dignitaries.
Maintain a secure perimeter (20 suspects).
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
Rescue 3 civilians.
Arrest/neutralize 4 suspects.
INTRODUCTION
Although this mission appears to be nothing more than simple VIP detail at the
beginning, as soon as you begin you'll have a threat to eliminate. I recommend
starting in the convoy, in dynamic mode. Pack M4's because there will be some
distances that only the M4 can handle effectively. Also, a fair amount of
terrorists are armed to the tooth, with a fair level of body armor. The
Convention Center is made up of two levels; escalators and a stairwell run
between the two levels. Once again, there will be a lot of terrorists and even
more civilians. You'll need to keep a tight grip on your team by giving them
plenty to do. Also, many of the terrorists are dressed as civilians, so be sure
to confirm your target before firing. Issuing lots of compliance orders goes a
long way towards controlling the crowd. Make sure you handcuff everyone around
and systematically report each of the detained individuals.
ACTIVE DUTY
Either way you start off, half of your team will be in the bus, and the other
next to the Hummer. I recommend that you start next to the Hummer, because
there's a bit more room to work with. As soon as the game starts, there will be
terrorists wandering about in and outside of the bus (probably 3 to 4). Detain
them and the dignitaries that are in the area, then proceed up to the two doors
up the ramp. Once you enter the convention center, check all the obvious angles
first, and then lob a few tear gas canisters up onto the 2nd floor, from the
first floor. That should keep the bad guys up there busy. Next, sweep through
the convention hall, paying special attention to the door to the stairs on your
left, the kitchen on your right, and the rotunda directly in front of you.
There
really isn't one good way to go about this, simply because there are so many
civilians wandering about. Do not let your teammates go into the stairwell, if
you can help it. This is where the most heavily armed terrorists can be found.
You'll want to take them out aggressively, but only when you're ready. Clearing
the kitchen is just a matter of knowing who's the bad guy. There are two of
them: a dark-haired man and a blonde lady. Detain them. The black man is a
civilian. When you enter the rotunda, you'll need to watch your back, and check
upstairs. Next, watch it around the pillars, as the baddies love to hide behind
them. Repeat the process of lobbing tear gas canisters upstairs. Next, clear
the Kinko's and the bathrooms. There are usually terrorists in both bathrooms,
along with civilians. The CQB situations can make it a bit hairy. Try to go in
first. Once you've cleared the first floor, make your way up to the 2nd floor,
preferably up one of the escalators. From there, you can move up the stairs,
checking both left and right. Ideally, the tear gas canisters will have
distracted some of the wandering terrorists. Start by breaching conference
rooms
D and E. Save F for last, as it's the largest and contains the most bad guys.
Usually there isn't too much going on in D or E, but move quickly nonetheless.
On the other side of level 2, clear the conference rooms A, B, and C. There's
usually a hostage in one or two of them, as well as a few more baddies wandering
about. Shouldn't take too much to clear them.

INTRODUCTION
Essentially, your job is to clear out the tower and the adjoining offices,
located in the same building from where you'll start. Perhaps the trickiest
element to this mission is the assignment to move up the stairs. There are two
fairly large stairwells to manage, something that your AI team members seem to
have some difficulty with. Hostages are not as prevalent as terrorists, who tend
to hide in the darkest and most out-of-the way corners. Be wary; you must clear
each and every floor thoroughly before proceeding up another level. Once you
encounter your first terrorist, go dynamic and stay dynamic. This mission
requires some degree of speed: you must prevent the launching of the SAM missile
from the launcher, located on the very rooftop. You'll only get one warning shot
before you'll lose the mission. Be sure to make this your primary target.
ACTIVE DUTY
The tricky part about this mission is the map. It's actually somewhat confusing
to figure out, at least the first few rounds. Just remember one thing: you must
get to the SAM launcher, located at the top of the tower before you do anything
else. So, begin by picking the lock on the door, and breaching the door. Stay
in stealth mode as long as you can, proceeding down the hallway until you reach
another doorway. Breach this doorway, and turn to your left. Head through
those
double doors and clear out the furnace/electrical room. Next, send your
teammates through the other doors in this room. At this time, you may want to
run back to the stairwell you saw just a few moments ago, before entering the
furnace room. Check these stairs carefully, and make sure there are no baddies
wandering about the first two flights of stairs. A tear gas grenade may be of
some use here. Next, rejoin your team and instruct them to enter into the next
room they find. This should be another furnace/electrical room, complete with
some terrorists and possibly some hostages. Clear this room, and then step into
the small room. Continue moving through this next hallway, and through the
door. Once again, a hallway awaits you; usually there are no suspects in this
room. Continue going until you arrive at a door. This door leads to the bottom
of the stairs that lead all the way up to the top of the tower. Because your
teammates aren't the best stair climbers in the world, I suggest you tell them
to
regroup behind you while you lead the charge up the stairs. Be sure to check
each floor for bad guys. Note that one floor will have a bridge to another part
of the building. Do not go there yet; simply note its location and continue
going up. You will need to clear at least 4 different floors on your way up,
until you arrive at the very top (this will take at least a few minutes). At
this top section, enter the doorway and carefully move up the stairs. Mirror up
into the control tower and outside, and then tell your teammates to charge. Go
outside first, and clear all sides quickly. You'll find the SAM unit to your
left (picture 2). Tell your teammates to quickly clear the tower while you
disarm the SAM unit.
Now for the second part of the mission. Head back downstairs to the Kitty Hawk
landing where you found the bridge to the other portion of the control tower
complex. Take this bridge and go to the left of the elevators. Back here you
will find some offices. Rescue any civilians located inside here (picture 1).
Next, head down the stairwell and take the first landing door. This will lead
you to a large, open room (picture 3), full of intricate walkways. There's
always someone there waiting to greet you, so be attentive. Finally, head
across
the room and clear the bottom floor. There are several offices on this floor,
but should pose no problem for you.
Mission 13: Hollywood Division, VIP Detail
OBJECTIVES
Protect life of Cheah Heng Ming
Protect life of Terrance Adams
Protect dignitaries from harm
Maintain a safe perimeter
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
Unknown Civilians Saved: 3
Unknown Suspects Arrested: 2
INTRODUCTION
This mission is essentially a "clear building of terrorists mission." Despite
the innocent description of VIP detail, things go bad very quickly. You'll want
to plan for a lot of hostages and terrorists to be wandering about if you don't
immediately gain control of them. I recommend the MP5 for its CQB
characteristics and its ease of use. Because of all the hostages and terrorists
to clear, you'll want to keep a tight rein on your teammates while you clear
each
successive area. I recommend taking the second floor before proceeding to the
first, simply because the majority of the dignitaries are on the second floor.
ACTIVE DUTY
Although it starts off as being a VIP detail, we all know that it will be much
worse than this. Instead of waiting for your cue, go ahead and go dynamic.
Send
your team through the double doors while you check out the stairwell. Simply
clear the stairwell while your team gets to work on the conference room floor
(picture 1). There are a lot of baddies wandering about, so you'll need to move
quickly with your team to stay ahead of them. Step out into the main hallway
and
immediately turn to your left. There is almost always a baddie hiding around
the
corner, so be wary. In order to get control of this situation, you may at first
have to shoot up the terrorists. Have your teammates proceed to the right,
towards any one of the double doors while you work the small room on the left.
This conference room is usually occupied by at least one baddie, who doesn't
like
to surrender. Take him down and then regroup with your teammates, who should be
working at least one of the three conference rooms with hostages. Now, there is
a big stairwell located next to these rooms (picture 2) which should be your
next
primary focus. Quickly peek and scan the bottom floor for baddies. They love
to
take pot shots at you as you operate on the second floor. You may wish to have
either one group cover the area or lob some tear gas grenades down there to keep
the suspects busy. Next, turn your attention on the remaining conference rooms.
At least one of them has the Chinese diplomat (usually the conference room on
the
far left). Take each conference room the same way: tell your teammates to
breach
and clear while you follow in closely behind. Arrest and report in everyone you
find. Finally, clear the two bathrooms located on this floor - and watch out,
these are some tight corners.
Once you're done with the second floor, head back to the large stairs and have
your teammates head cautiously down the stairs. They may encounter some
resistance, and you should be in front of them just to make sure they don't get
screwed in such a vulnerable spot. Next, you'll want to clear the bathrooms on
this level (usually not too much in here). After that, direct your teammates
through the office doors located behind the concierge's desk. Clear this room
and the office room adjacent to it, before heading out into the service hallways
and offices in the back. This is where you'll encounter the final bad guys and
hostages. Because there are many small rooms and tight hallways, first clear
the
hallways of any baddies. Then, make your teammates breach and clear each
bathroom (you may wish to use C4 on the doors, just in case). Finally, step
back
out into the lobby and clear the restaurant area of any remaining bad guys or
hostages.

INTRODUCTION
This mission combines many difficult elements into one level: tight quarters,
big
rooms, aggressive baddies, and stair climbing. Each element can give you lots
and lots of headaches. Because of the multiple routes in many situations, the
key is to stick with one route so that your element does not fall out of your
control. You'll be climbing three flights of stairs in an attempt to rescue
hostages, keep Tobias alive (which can be tough - he's pretty resilient), and
diffuse a pretty tricky bomb. Furthermore, dark corners and rooms await you.
As with every SWAT 3 mission, a step-by-step tactical approach will assure the
best results.
ACTIVE DUTY
Starting at the foot of the stairs, make your way up to the next level. Be sure
to get in front of your teammates and direct them to stand ready at the first
door. Meanwhile, you should proceed cautiously up the next flight of stairs to
ensure that no one is wandering around and the door is closed. You may even
want
to toss a tear gas grenade up against the door, just in case. Next, instruct
your team to enter into the hallway where they stacked up. Beginning here, your
first suspect is usually found. Tell your team to go into the door to the
right,
where there is ALWAYS at least one terrorist ready to jump the gun. Let them
take the lead, since it's such a tight passageway. Once you've cleared that
office room, head into the next, small room, checking first ahead of you and
then
to your immediate left for any baddies (boy do they every love that spot). Have
your team in close support as you move into the next room, with the pews (or at
least that's what they look like). Step back into the hallway (note the
elevators in front of you), and then turn immediately around to enter the law
library. I've found that this particular door is a great door to blow, because
by now your cover is blown and the suspects tend to expect you. Place a charge
and instruct your buds to cover the doorway. Upon blowing the door, yell for
compliance and go in head strong. Be SURE to check the emergency stairs to your
left before clearing the rest of the library. Terrorists love to wander down in
the law library from those stairs. Clear the library (including the back room)
and prepare to move up the stairs. Do the same as you did with the first set of
stairs. Go ahead, tell them to breach and clear onto the next level and you run
up and check the top floor. There is almost always a injured civilian lying
there. Keep an eye on the door (open or closed) and call her in for pick up.
By
now your team should be heading through the lower floor. This floor, filled
with
smaller offices, needs to be cleared room-by-room. Do not rush or force it.
You
should find at least one or two hostages and some terrorists about. Now you're
ready for the mayor's offices. Head back up to where you saw the injured
civilian, and order your team to enter into the room. Here, there are a number
of angles you'll have to watch, as you enter into the lobby of the mayor's
office. Note the stairs going up to your left, and the doors to your 10
o'clock. These need to be focused on first, provided no one is in the lobby.
Once you've checked out those stairs going up to the final level (very important
that you do), head towards both the mayor's main office door and the side
hallway. The terrorists love to hide in there, actually. Clear all rooms and
rescue any remaining hostages. Finally, you'll be ready for the top level.
This
story is difficult to breach because the stairs make for an easy kill-zone.
Send
one squad up the left-hand stairs while the other goes up the right-hand stairs.
Follow whichever is slower up. As you come up, focus on the center of the room.
There should be at least one or two suspects in the center of the room. As soon
as they are down (be aggressive here), turn your attention to the outside
rooftop
walkway, which goes around completely around the room. You will have probably
heard high ground mention that a suspect has stepped out onto the balcony.
That's that suspect - make sure you clear the outside before you head for the
bomb. The bomb must be disabled in two parts, in a particular order. You must
disable the security system first (the box near the ground) before you can
attempt to disable the suitcase nuke. Do so, and you've once again saved the
city.
Mission 15: UCLA, Recon
OBJECTIVES
Bring order to chaos (9 suspects)
Evacuate all unauthorized personnel (1 person)
Defuse all suspicious items (7 bombs)
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
Arrest/Neutralize 4+ suspects
INTRODUCTION
Welcome to what could quite possibly be the most challenging mission, SWAT 3 and
otherwise, I've ever played. Locating all seven of these tiny bombs (they look
like little radios and make a constant beeping sound when you near them) in this
dimly, terrorist-infested, labyrinth of the LA sewer system beneath UCLA is
nothing short of nightmarish. I have never, ever, been so stumped, confused,
and
bewildered by any one level. My first few times, I spent a all 45 minutes
wandering through the level before I got blown up by the nuke explosion at 45
minutes. That much time on one level really boggles my mind.
Of course, the reason you're reading this walkthrough is because you don't want
to experience that same pain and agony. If you do, feel free to leave this page
and continue playing the sewer level until you find all seven bombs. There are
several things you should do before getting yourself started on this level:
Pack M4's for everyone. A level this aggravating will mean you'll be in no mood
to deal with some half-witted terrorist. Go in guns blazing.
Turn up your contrast on your monitor. Believe me, it really can help. That
dinky flashlight will do nothing for you.
Select the west entrance and "dynamic" as your start-off point.
Turn down your resolution to the notch below if you don't think your hardware is
quick enough. Several areas of this map are notorious for causing severe FPS
losses.
Take a long break, probably to the bathroom, before starting.
Remember, there are seven bombs which you MUST find, along with a slew of
terrorists (all dressed in orange biosuits), and one civilian. Take your time
and be sure to keep your teammates with you at all times. They'll really help a
lot when you need some support fire for all those ambushes the terrorists will
set for you.
ACTIVE DUTY
Because of the complexity of this mission, I've gone ahead and arranged this
walkthrough in nine steps, with each step containing several screenshots to
quickly guide you to each individual bomb and terrorists. These walkthroughs
won't really spend too much time on the bad guys you may or may not encounter,
primarily because they are scattered through out the level and rarely appear in
the same exact spot. Select your step:
Starting off (and the first bomb).
First bomb to second bomb.
Second bomb to third bomb.
Third bomb to fourth bomb.
Fourth bomb to fifth bomb.
Fifth bomb to sixth bomb.
Sixth bomb to seventh bomb.
Seventh bomb to Terrorists.
Other terrorists and objectives.
Not sure which bomb is which? Stuck on locating a particular bomb? Here some
familiar descriptions and locations of each bomb:
Located on the west campus entrance, under a pyramid of barrels.
Located at the bottom of a stairwell coming from west campus entrance, near the
gated entrance to the poisonous gas room, on the 2nd floor down. Directly
underneath the stairs, under a wooden plank.
Located in the largest poisonous gas room, on the 2nd floor down. All the way
to
the back and behind a barrel facing a blocked path, on top of a tire.
Located overlooking the "rushing water tunnel" (the one with the bridge), in the
same hallway as the poisonous gas bomb.
Located on a shelf just down the stairs from the second bomb.
Located in a shopping cart, on the lower level, in a room filled with graffiti.
Located in the middle of an hallway intersection, behind some old trash in a
corner.
For more assistance, try downloading a copy of Jahn's Sewermaps blueprints.
These are fairly well done blueprints, which would great with this walkthrough.
Finally, one more handy tip for you. If you still get confused with my
walkthrough, try this great trick which helped me to learn the map. Using your
lightsticks (those green bars that come up when you push F5), drop one at every
new fork in the road, to tell yourself what way you've already gone. This
fantastic trick helped me to slowly but surely memorize the sewers level map.
One caveat emptor, as well. The sewers walkthrough doesn't contain much of a
guidance to finding all the terrorists on this level. To my knowledge, there
are
at least 13, probably many more. Because they seem to change location every
game
(very few are consistently in the same position), I've created a small page
which
focuses on finding these suspects. Because of the mission requirements, you
must
find at least 9 suspects to arrest. To find the majority of them, follow this
walkthrough. If you do not rescue all the suspects, you will be forced to play
mission 16.
Mission 16: Central District, Barricaded Suspects
OBJECTIVES

Protect Dignitaries from harm (3)
Locate and defuse atomic munition (1 in suitcase)
UNFORESEEN EVENTS

INTRODUCTION
Mission 16 will only occur if you do not rescue all the bad guys found in the
sewers in mission 15. Otherwise, the mission is still fun to play. :)
Mission 16 (as I refer to it) occurs during the nighttime in a level you should
be already familiar with - the Convention Center. The difference is that
they've
closed up the center with some new walls and citizens are not randomly walking
around - there are some dignitaries to rescue again, however. Note that you'll
need to clear the basement of the Convention Center as well, a floor you were
unable to access the last time in this building. You'll want to pick a heavy
assortment of weapons (M4s, for starters) and be prepared to duke it out with
some pretty pissy terrorists. Also, note that you'll need to find another
suitcase nuke (picture 2). This is tricky because this suitcase can be located
in any number of locations (believe me, I've seen it in some weird locations)
and
there are a LOT of look-alikes throughout the level. Listen carefully for that
tell-tale beeping and you'll know you've got the right one.
Above all else, do this level in a methodical manner. This map has lots of
rooms
and lots of little distractions; it normally takes me around 20 to 30 minutes to
complete this mission.
ACTIVE DUTY
Starting off, proceed towards the doors. There shouldn't be any resistance as
you move up the ramp and prepare to breach the door. Have your men stack up,
and
go in. Staying in stealth mode isn't a bad idea here. Picture 1 shows the
breach of the first room, where your likely to find at least one dignitary.
Next, focus your attention on the escalators heading upstairs. Proceed up there
and be prepared for an intense firefight, as there at least a few terrorists
wandering about, and they have good protection behind some counters. Clear the
top of the escalators, and turn your attention to the right side of the level,
with the conference rooms. Clear each individual conference room. The one on
the left is basically empty except for one terrorist, the one to the right has
one terrorist plus four priests, and the final room in the back (the large
auditorium-style room) has several hostages and still more terrorists. Be sure
to check the back room, that's where I found the suitcase bomb in one of my go-
rounds.
After finishing off those conference rooms, go ahead and finish off the other
wing of the level, including three different rooms. They're easily cleared
using
the cover and bang method, but watch out for some strolling terrorists. Come
back to the middle area, and then proceed back down the escalators you haven't
been down yet. Turn and clear the open room, including the cafeteria (and the
kitchen in the back) and then the bathrooms and the Kinko's. There's always at
least one terrorist hiding in the far bathroom. Next, proceed the back of the
convention center, where the temporary walls had been set up (right next to
where
you step off the escalator). Go through here and you'll find the stage, as
pictured in picture 3. Here, you'll usually find the Russian President. To the
right is a small passageway where you'll find a terrorist hideout. Expect to
find a few back here. Be sure to check the small room underneath the stage, too
(there's a slightly hidden door).
Once that's done, go back to the center portion of the Convention Center, and
look for the maintenance stairs. These are dark and lead to the hornet's nest
of
the terrorists. From here on in, go in gun's blazing. You'll find just one
hostage, but the fight to him will be challenging. Head down the stairs and
proceed cautiously, step-by-step. There are a number of rooms, and they all
look
the same (which is about all I can really say). Use plenty of flashbangs and
gas
grenades to flush out your opponents. The opti-wand works wonders here as well.
One final note: 10-David may tell you you're done after a certain point, but
make
sure you've gone downstairs to completely flush out all the bad guys.
ACTIVE DUTY
When you begin this mission, simply pick the lock while staying in stealth mode;
remaining in stealth is a good way of practicing for later missions. Once you
pick the lock, check the top of the stairs (to your left) and the hallway, while
sending your element through to clear.

If you
turn your attention to the altar area, there should be two more doors to open;
one of them is a concealed entrance located directly behind the central podium.
Mission 12: Pacific Division, Rescue Hostages
OBJECTIVES
Rescue Steve Schnider
Rescue Bob Stanley
Rescue Kobe Carson
Rescue Bernie Schultz
Rescue Larry Babcock
Bring order to chaos (9 suspects)
Prevent destruction of aircraft
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
Unknown Suspects: 4
Finally, step
back
out into the lobby and clear the restaurant area of any remaining bad guys or
hostages.
Mission 14: Downtown, Rescue Hostages
OBJECTIVES
Rescue and Evacuate Mayor Fitzpatrick
Rescue and Evacuate Angel Cummings
Rescue and Evacuate Irving Metcalf
Rescue and Evacuate Unknown Civilians
Arrest suspect Tobias Stromm
Locate and defuse bomb
Bring order to chaos (10 terrorists)
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
Unknown terrorists encountered: 6
Unknown civilians rescued: 1
OBJECTIVES
Maintain a safe perimeter (20)
Protect Dignitaries from harm (3)
Locate and defuse atomic munition (1 in suitcase)
UNFORESEEN EVENTS
Unknown Hostages/Civilians saved: 12
Unknown Suspects: 12
