The Curse of Monkey Island is one of the best adventure games I have
played yet. I have written it up in hard mode, so if you want the easy
mode, you just have to skip certain bits. If you have any problems,

solution to a minimum, and if you do exactly what it says, you will
miss out on a lot of funny parts. Remember to talk to everybody.
Disk 1
Part I: The demise of the zombie pirate LeChuck
You can get this section from the manual, but I have included it anyway.
After the opening sequence, take the ramrod from the back wall. Then,
talk to the pirate. Keep talking until he starts crying, and when he
does, take his hook. Use the hook with the ramrod. Use the cannon, and
shoot all the boats with skeletons in. Walk out the cannon hole, and
use the gaff with the arm and the talking skull (you can talk to him
first). Then, go back, and use the cutlass with the cannon restraint
rope. Then, use the cannon. When you get into the treasure room, take
the bag, and the ring underneath it. Use the diamond ring with the
porthole.
Part II: The curse gets worse
Take the burning ember from the beach, and leave in any direction. Go
to the swamp on the map. Try to go into the house, but you will talk
to murray. Talk to him if you want, and when you have finished, go
into the house. Take the paste from the floor and use it with the
skeleton arm. Take the pin from the paper doll on the floor. Use the
bag of nickels with the gum machine. Then, pull the crocodile tongue.
Talk to the voodoo lady, and then leave. Go to the town (the left side,
you should see a small boy as the first person). walk left, and go into
the side door of the theatre. Look at the coat, and open the pocket.
take the glove, and the dandruff. Then, take the magic wand, and use
it with the hat. take the book, and walk back out. Go down the stairs
to the Barbery Coast. Use the glove on the dapper pirate. When you are
choosing a weapon, close one of the boxes and take the banjo. Then,
you will have a banjo duel. You will have to pluck the right string at
the end of each musical bit. Remember to do this quickly. Once you have
go them all correct, Take the pistol, and use it with the duelling
banjo. Then, use the lice with the comb when the big pirate puts it
down. Rottingham will be thrown out. Sit in the chair, and use the
handle once. take the paperweight. Once Haggis is gone, use the handle
until he reaches the top. Then take the scissors. Go up to the salty
pirate and push him twice. Then take the jawbreaker from the floor.
Then go to the flowers & weeds next to the chicken shop. Use the
scissors with the flower and then the weeds. When you get to the
cliff, walk to the sign and a snake should eat you. Once you are in
the snake, take the faberge egg, and everything else. Use the flower
with the syrup, and use the ipecac syrup on the snake head. When you
land in the quicksand, take a reed, and a thorn from the 'Papapishu'
(ouch) bush. Use the thorn with the reed. Then, use the paperweight
with the balloon, and blow it. Then, use the pea-shooter with the
ballon. Then, you will get to danjer cove. Leave, and go to the chicken
shop in Puerto Pollo (translated from Spanish, Puerto Pollo means
'port of chicken'). Say you have a reservation, and then take the
piepan and the biscuit cutter. Push the skeleton and take knife. Give
the jawbreaker to Blondebeard, And then some gum. When he blows a
bubble, pop it with the pin. Then, take tooth and inhale the helium
ballon. Use tha gum, and then use the tooth with the chewed gum. Chew
the gum, and it should float through the window. Walk out and use the
pie pan with the mudpuddle. Then, go and give the tooth to Cutthroat
Bill. Once he has joined your crew, go up to the field and use the
biscuit cutter with another rubber tree. Use the paste with the plug.
Then, walk to the grassy knoll and use the knife with the sawhorse.
Then, use the burning ember with the trail of rum. Go back to the
barbery coast and ask Haggis to join your crew. Accept the caber
competition, and you should win. Then, go back to Danjer cove. Use the
pasty plug with the gaping hole and sail out to the ship. Use the
knife on the plank and go up. there are several things you can do on
the ship to attract the crews attention, like open the door, try and
take the tar, and when the crew does arrive, you should be tarred and
feathered. Go back to the chicken shop. You will end up in the cabin.
Use the book on LeChimp. When he leaves, take the map and open the
porthole. Leave. Next, go to the theatre in puerto pollo. Go up to the
lighting area. Use the instructions on the map, as the directions are
the buttons you must press. Once you have found the X, go down and use
the chicken grease with the cannon balls. Go into the stage and take
the shovel. Then, go to the chicken shop and take the tasty, buttery
biscuit from the barrel. Eat it and use the maggots on the chicken.
Take the card. Then, go to the club, and show him your card. Take 3
towels and dip them in the ice bucket.go to the beach and put them on
the hot sand. Talk to palido. Take the mug, and go and swap it for
Kennys ( the boy in Port Chickadee) mug. Ask for some lemonade, and
when he runs off, take the pitcher. Use it with the vat of red dye.
Go and give the mug to palido and fill it with the dye. Go back to
the club and take a towel. Use it with the ice bucket, and use it with
the cabana boy. Take the oil, and use it on palidos back. Then take
the map. Then you can leave!
Disk 2
Part III: Three sheets to the wind
This chapter is a different chapter to the rest. You will have to go to
different ships and fight, to learn insults. If you have played Monkey
Island I & II, then this will be familiar. If not, Rottingham will show
you how. Once you defeat a pirate, you can go to Port of Chicks and buy
new ones off kenny. When you have good enough cannons, you can beat
Rottingham, as long as you have enough insults! I am going to leave
this part up to you, as telling you all the insults would take the fun
out of it!
Part IV: The bartender, the thieves, his aunt and her lover
Once you land on the island, take the bottle from the shore and look at the
bottle next to Haggis. Ask haggis about it twice, and then leave. First, go to
the house. Go inside, and talk to the old woman. Keep asking her about Tarot
readings until you get 5 death cards. Then, take the recipe book which is next
to the pickles. Take the cushion from the chair. Leave and go to the graveyard.
Walk past the 2 crypts and go down. Take the hammer and chisel from next to the
gravestone. Take some smelly dog hair from the dog, and then give him the half-
eaten maggoty biscuit.Then leave, and go to the windmill. Take the pepper from
the plant. Then, go down to the beach (not the shipwreck). Use the cushion with
the rocks, and then use the hammer with the tree. Go back to the hotel, and give
the egg, the dog hair and the pepper to the bartender. Then, ask for a drink.
You can talk to him more if you want, but once you finish, take the jar. Go
upstairs to the first door, and use the hammer on the nail which is sticking out
of the wall. Go out into the corridor and take the nail and the portrait. Use
the scissors on the portrait to get the face. Use the portrait on the outside of
the first door. Go into the door and look through the porthole. Once griswold is
gone, go downstairs and ask for a another drink use the chisel on the head-B-
clear, and then use it on the drink. drink the drink. Once you can move, use the
chisel on the coffin in the lower left-hand coffin. Take the coffin nails. Once
Guybrush has stopped ranting about the dead, Use the chisel on the central
coffin. Remember this from Monkey Island 2? Once you can move, leave and go back
to the upstairs in the hotel. Use the laminated business card in the lock. Pull
the bed down, and use all the nails on the bed. Take the book, and leave. Talk
to Griswold, and try to prove you are a goodsoup. As long as you have done the
portrait thing,and got the book, then this will be OK. Once you are proved a
goodsoup, do the dying hing with the drink again. This time, you will be in the
goodsoup crypt. Once you can walk, go up to the tree stump and look through it.
Rememember this from Monkey Island 1? Once you get down, go left. Talk to the
ghost about everything. Then go left again, take the crowbar and walk to the
soup. You should get Murray. Look through the crack and use the skeleton arm
with the lantern. Place the lantern on the coffin lid, and use Murray with it.
Then Mort should come and let you out. Go back to the skeleton in the room, and
use the crowbar on the planks at the back. Then lift up the nails with the
crwbar(or is it the chisel). He should go flying into the crypt. Go back to the
goodsoup crypt, and voila! The first part of the ring is on the floor. Then, go
up to the strange lights. Take the big block of tofu, the auger and the
measuring cup. Go down to the hotel, and in the back room, take the death
certificate, the fridge magnet(if you haven't already got it) and use the chisel
to get some cheese. Go back up to the mountain. use the auger with the tofu, and
go up. wear the tofu mask, and go up. after the sacrifice, use the cheese with
the massive, seething caldera. It should erupt. Go down to the hotel and use the
rest of the cheese in the cooking pot. Pick it up. Then you can get the lotion.
Go back to Stan. Ask him about insurance, and give him the gold tooth for
payment. once you have the policy, give it back to him, and you should get a lot
of money. Go back to the hotel and use the face on the mirror next to the
bartender. Take the jar, and use the chisel on the lid. Go to the windmill and
use the umbrella with the windmill blades. use the jar with the barrel, and go
back down through the door. Leave and go to the clearing. Put the jar on the
stump, and use the lid with it once the fireflies are all in. Go up to the
lighthouse and use the fireflies with the lantern post. Replace the broken
mirror with the mirror. Then, use the fridge magnet with the pin, and bite the
shaving foam bottle. stick the pin in the cork. Go to the beach, and use the
measuring cup with the seawater. use the cork and in in the cup. Talk to the
flying welshman. Ask him for a ride to skull island. Once he has the compass, he
will take you. Once you arrive and the incredible fear subsides, climb up to the
top of the mountain. ask the little guy for a lift down. Once you get on and
start falling, open the umbrella. you will float down to the thieves. Talk to
them and ask them for the diamond. They will want you to play for it. You have
enough money. Once you get your cards, pick them up and use them with the tarot
cards. A fight will ensue, and you will make off with the diamond! Aha! The
second part. Use the diamond with the engagement band. Go and use the slippery
hand lotion with the ring on elaines finger. Pull it, and replace it with the
uncursed one.
Part V: The kiss of the spider monkey
Once you finish watching all the cinema bits, talk to LeChuck as much or as
little as you want. When you finish, you should be turned into a child. Open the
door and walk out. Once you can move, go and oush dinghy dog until he bites you.
Then, talk to him, and try to win a prize. Ask him to guess your age. When you
win, take the anchor. Use the shaving foam with the pie pan, and put the anchor
in it. Use it with the other pies. Get wharf rat to fire the cannon, and when
the clown is knocked out, go through the gate and look through the hole. Wharf
rat will fire, and you will get some meringue. Go over to the soda jerk and get
the pepper mill. Remember this? Ground pepper, whipped egg whites and hair of
the dog which bit you? Its the hangover cure. Get a snowcone from the soda jerk,
and use the meringue, doghair and pepper on the cone. Eat it.
Part VI: Guybrush kicks butt once again
You start off on the rollercoaster on this one, with LeChuck chasing after you.
you will need to select to get off before you actually appear.You will need to
get off on all of them. Take the rope from the one with the three-headed monkey,
on the one with you being tortured, blow the oil flask and take it, take the
barrel of rum on the one with the ship. On the snowy one, go up. Use the rope
with the flask of oil, and put it in the barrel of rum. Put the barrel in the
dynamo-monkelectric gigantic snow arm and go back down when LeChuck comes, you
will need to use the pepper mill on him. Make sure you do this in the snowy one,
so he lights the fuse.
